Anyone who's thinking about reading Bouncer probably came from reading Out, so you might be seeing some similarities. However I believe there are a couple key differences between the two stories.

What I like about this series is that it turns a simple bouncer security job into an action packed drama with eye opening fights. This is not just an ordinary "delinquent" manga, but a series focusing on the dangerous night life of the city and the issues the main character and bouncers' in the series have to deal with; whether it be your average security or life threatening protection.

With more mystery being revealed each ... chapter, there is definitely going to be more to this simple bouncer plot that meets the eye, however with only nineteen translated chapters out at the moment we will have to be patient. Bouncer is an enjoyable read worth the time.

Shishido is a 19 year old kid who is weak at studies. He respects his uncle who taught him to fight to protect his loved ones. He is a kind and stubborn guy, physically gifted and prone to violence. He takes his uncle’s advice quite literally and jumps into a fight anytime he sees somebody needing his help.

This is a delinquent action type story about Shishido. Starts off with more comedy and later adds more and more mystery elements that thicken the plot.
So far only 34 ch have been scanlated, but they are totally worth reading.


Story. 8/10
Due to poor social skills and ... a tendency for violence, Shishido often gets into misunderstandings. One night he tries to help out a girl who was being harassed by a guy in a club. The security/bouncer pushes them both out. A fight ensues. Shishido is badly beaten, he does the only thing he knows—fight. But then gets beaten by the President of Tokyo Fist, the security company who offers him to work there.
And Shishido is desperate for a job. Even though he’s a low standard deviation(inside joke), he understands that this job is perfect or him. He loves to fight to protect others and that’s the exact job description of a bouncer! Bingo!

As the story progresses we enter the deep, dark world of Yakuza, Police corruption, delinquents, murder mysteries, and tales of revenge. The theme shifts from comedy to mystery. But action remains throughout. Plenty of fight scenes.


Art. 8/10
I like the distinct look that Shishido has. And the way his look matures with his persona. The fight scenes are cool, and pretty realistic. This is not wierd like Baki. More similar to Holyland.


Characters. 8/10
The MC is pretty cool. Realistic, relateable. Most importantly he adapts to the situation and looses the goofy persona he had initially. Character growth is evident. Other guys like Torai, Hachino are interesting too.


Overall. 8/10
I really enjoyed reading these 34 ch and would love to read more. The story keeps getting more and more exciting.

You’ll love it if you like delinquent, action, mystery manga. Made by same guy who made Out. Fight scenes every chapter, some philosophy, some warm friendship moments, and some betrayals.....it’s all there.

Don’t expect a relaxed slice of life. No romance here, the only girls we’ve seen so far were prostitutes.
