This story has some very interesting twists thrown into the typical high school girl-meets-boys, each of whom wants her for himself. They are fiercely competing over her, driven by the bestial/supernatural side of their natures. All of this is potentially dangerous for the girl AND for any of the boys who end up losing.
There are several supernatural humanoid creatures (werewolves) in amongst the human high school students, who have their own unique issues and are otherwise dealing with the same kinds of stuff as the fully human students.
They have family issues: one (the tsundere male lead) ran away from home to escape family drama
...
and a potentially fatal struggle over the succession within that family. He wants something different from life (he thinks) than life within the clan, and he is different enough from the rest of the family that he's been bullied and made outcast most of his young life. The other two potential heirs came chasing after him to knock him out of the running for the succession (and kill him if they can).
They all are fighting over the same girl. If these young men were cats, she'd be the crate of catnip that overwhelms their senses. She's also the prize that the winner of the competition for the succession must secure to take control of their clan.
It's not all raging ambition driving the young mens' actions: for them, just being near the girl, catching her scent, threatens to send them into a mating frenzy, apparently, which only one seems to even try to resist, choosing to try to protect the girl and his other classmates.
In other words. there are all kinds of romantic and family conflicts that do not seem to ever go where I expect it to (based on what little has been translated). I love that part best.
I am really, really hoping that someone translates more of the story. The volumes in Japanese are still available, so I just bought the whole 7-volume set. Can't read a word, but I can look at the pictures and guess ...
