Spoilers from chapter 12.

Good, now Rudo is taking his second step of becoming the Shinigami Quincy Hokage reincarnated from the Sun God and chosen to save the world after overcoming his special dark power (first step was having an OP ability that breaks the battle system btw).

Jokes aside, I don't mind the MC having a dark side, it could end up being cool, but the timing of its reveal makes me not thrilled to say the least. While Rudo is beating up that girl, we are told that he has a dark power that can destroy the world, which hints that Rudo is only doing something so bad because he's possessed/influenced by that dark power, because God forbid we have a flawed protagonist.
With his background it would've been understandable that Rudo is a f**ked up kid, and the show's been doing well fleshing him out, we really don't need a cliche' to justify his actions for him.

That being said, I hope I'm wrong, I really do, and obviously I do like this show.
What do you guys think?

I don't really understand what you are talking about. Maybe I'm forgetting something but as much as I've read in the manga and understood, Rudo did it cuz he IS flawed. It was a part of his character. No part of him was influenced by some evil entity or the watchman's series but his own rage. He even apologised later when he realised his mistake. It portrays his flaws and we see his character growth throughout the series.

@Subxxxx1 Yeah that's true in the anime too, but what I meant was the timing of the explanation behind this dark power, it was hinting that it's what drove Rudo to getting violent in the first place, even if he had his own dark thoughts.
Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but I've had this issue with many other Battle Shounens before, that's why it concerns me.

Rudo is flawed and DOES have built up big time anger issues and the inner demon stuff (which is anime only mind you) is just a way to personifiy it

Being worried about the MC being or receiving something special in any kind of way, imo its kinda hard to avoid that 'cliche' it is a battle shounen at the end of the day.

No. What made you think something like that? Rudo has no dark powers, something like that doesn't exist. He's not possesed by anything. He did beat Amo because her behavior wasn't accepatable to him.

Because the scene makes it seem like he has some sort of dark evil power within him. If he doesn't that's good, but the show kinda messed up the framing.

I think the “dark power” is just Rudo having years of repressed anger and as a result, he has a very explosive fuse.

He was genuinely pissed at Amo for making him relive severe trauma.

No. He doesn't have any dark power. What Semiu and Arkha were talking about is that he probably is an artificial being or something has been done to his body.
Though, someone could say, the dark power trope is not even that much abused to have people complain when it's present.

When are you referring too, because I remember reading the chapter pretty clearly when they show Rudo losing control and getting overcome by his dark side and Simiu talking about what she saw inside of rudo and showing the “curse” that is growing inside him and being surrounded by swirling darkness while he is venting about it to Enjin after he beats the ever living crap out of Amo only real difference I can remember is combining two panels into one animation which I wouldn’t really consider that anime only

Hahaha, my thoughts exactly. "Notto disu shittu again" I rolled my eyes when thry revealed how Rudo is cursed and it can destroy the world. Rudo is already pretty special MC. I'm not a fan of making MCs THAT special.

Still loving the show though. Loving it enough to read manga in the meantime.
