Very poor response in India! Why?

So, I am a guy from India who watched this movie and absolutely loved it. This is easily the best anime movie i watched in theatres and also 2nd best anime movie I have ever watched in general.
This movie was pure cinema. Everything was in right quantity. Action, animation, emotions, story structure, story direction, parallels, build up and payoff. The only drawback was that I had to read subtitles and i didn't want to move my eyes from the screen even for a second. That's why, i watched this movie twice to revisit some important scenes which i missed from the first half (if you know what I mean 🤭).
That being said, the audience response was very poor. Like 1st time i went, it was 12 people and 2nd time only 6? Seriously? what gives? And I checked most theatres are going almost empty, completely opposite of infinity castle. I heard the 1st day collection wasn't even 1 crore (10 million) rupees. I know, this movie is A-certified but still! It's very low. In india, do people in India only like popular mainstream shounen?

Ah! one more thing, for folks who will watch this movie in October or in near future, if you are wondering about the quality of this movie. I have just one thing to say to you.

Just go to the threats and experience what is called a true cinema. Every penny you spent on this movie will be worth it. In fact, you would want to watch this movie atleast twice to get fully satisfied. It is that damn good. Thanks 👍

yeah enjoyed the movie but the theatre being almost empty was a bummer
though us few people hyped stuff for each other xD

Chainsaw Man isn't the type of battle shounen series that us indians can appreciate just yet....the fan fans here just got developed during lockdown....well I was not expecting it to be another Demon Slayer anyway....

I knew it was bound to happen, India is a country where anime is still growing and not reached its full potential, most people watch mainstream movies/shows. Even though chainsaw man is part of dark Trinity, unlike Jujutsu kaisen it's not mainstream for some very obvious reasons, whose zero movie did very well in India. We are getting all these releases is still a good sign for anime in India.

That being said it doesn't change the fact that it was such a chaotic movie, and still managed to have such a beautiful and heartbreaking stroy in less than 2 hours. It was such a bliss to witness this in cinema hall. I would even say it was better than DS infinity Castle, but that's just my opinion.

just watched it in Malaysia, cinema was half full and i was surprised it didn’t receive the same attention that demon slayer got. But the crowd reception is not everything because i can comfortably say i enjoyed the chainsaw man movie wayyy more

it's Jujutsu Kaisen, Chainsaw Man and Hell's paradise. it's a general term used for these three, because these modern shonens are considerably darker, ghory and complex than typical shonens like DS, MHA, Black clover etc.
Only Jujutsu Kaisen became more popular and mainstream.
Funny thing is all three are adapted by Mappa.

Because it's a 18+ adult movie and most of the Indian anime fans are under 18 years old.

Chainsaw Man isn't appealing to most Indians because it isn't as straightforward in its writing as Demon Slayer. Indian audience prefers simple, easy to understand storylines. Any movie that requires you to pay attention to it is not appreciated in India.

dude in bengaluru ut wasn't released widely like DS and lots of people saw Dals multiple times thts one reason and also show's were given little oddly.
and also 18+ content , wn i went see there some teenagers wasn't allowed they were checking their age with govt id, 3 teenagers were talking to the staff about this even after they've booked the ticket.
so they let him later cuz it was the first show! .
MAPPA released it in wrong time.
look at jjk 0 it came in rt time and made some good business

It is an A rated film, meaning only 18+ can watch it, combined with the fact that CSM is nowhere near the mainstream popularity Demon Slayer has and it releasing so close to the Demon Slayer release date. Most casual anime fans in India have never even heard of Chainsaw Man. I'd know since I have quite a few friends like that who came to watch Demon Slayer but had never heard of CSM. Anime is still very new in India and most fans follow only the most widely known ones. On top of that, the few friends I had who knew CSM didn't want to go to the cinemas for another anime film after just spending for the demon slayer movie. So I just went to watch the movie alone.

They are only airing the Hindi dub where I live, i still plan to go tomorrow but that's just cause i love chainsaw man, if it was any other anime movie i wouldn't go, the only reason I went for demon slayer was cause they were airing the original Japanese with subs.

Hell Paradise surprised me because it's not exactly a popular series. Anyway, if people are going to play these kinds of titles, they should include darker series like, I don't know... Berserk.

Most people haven't watched Chainsaw man in India. It's not that popular in India. On the other hand, Demon slayer had a lot of normie audience who had probably not watched more than 2 anime in their life (demon slayer and jjk). Unfortunately, that's how it is.
