I don't know what chapter the second season ended, but I just need to know how many seasons we are expecting till the end/catching up, I would say atleast 2, maybe 3 seasons but I don't read the manga.

Wasn't expecting Season 2 to be better than Season 1 but here we are!

Season 2 ended at chapter 80 and as of right now there are 162 chapters out. It would take around 2 more seasons for the anime to catch up to where the manga is currently. Although the manga is still releasing, the author said it's in its final arc, so I would say it would end in about 10 or 20 or so chapters. If that's the case then it would probably take 5 seasons (3 more) to adapt all of oshi no ko.

As an anime only, realistically there's got to be an arc or two that can be adapted in a movie.

they would want a theatrical release at some point no?

The Oshi no ko manga ending is inminent. I think they will probably do it with 2 more seasons, covering with the first one Main stay, Scandal and part of Film arc and leaving for the last season most of Film arc and final arc.

Gonna honest I doubt we'll need a fifth season since I dont think theres really a way to stop at 160 either, so I think

Season 3 Chapters 81-123 (Mainstay, Scandal Arcs and small portion of the Movie Arc)

Season 4 Chapters 124-X (End of the manga) (Rest of the Movie Arc, that short End of the Play Arc and Towards the Stars and Dreams)

Reasons for stopping at 123 not 120 is that its the only way, and they generally feel very grouped together, and the same goes with continuing past 160, they are very grouped together in a sort of way and generally I think a fifth season with like 10 chapters is not it, unless the manga somehow goes on until 200 which I dont see happening at all. So I think it would be fine to adapt a little more into like a 16 or so Ep season instead.

I can relate why you choose 123 but in my opinion ch 110 is better. I know if season 3 ends with ch 123 everybody is shocked/the Ruby x Aqua incest bubble is hyped.
For me ch 110 is better because in the end they announce the actors for the movie and season 4 can start with the movie.

Regarding the end of season 2 I was a bit confused because after the outro they showed some parts from ch 109. Was this just a teaser for season 3? They showed that Kamiki is a murderer but this scene is more important when you know more about her and her connection with the movie.

@Archer097 I can see why chapter 110 is better, however that's up to Doga Kobo if they wish to keep adapting 40 chapters a season or not, and pausing at 110 is 30 chapters aka 10 episodes. (I know 123 breaks the "40 chapters a season" as well, however, its exactly 3 more chapters aka ONE more episode as a finale and its way less of a change than lowering the chapter count by 10)

As for the end of Season 2, I think it was just a teaser for Season 3, they were already settled on making another season and giving people a peek at something is good, it also reveals the face of our antagonist for the first time in the anime, which is honestly much needed here and fits perfectly into Edgy Ruby's "By any means necessary, I will find him..." "I will definitely kill him" earlier in the episode, as it refers to an individual yet the individual never made a formal appearance on the show, so honestly that last part was a good addition. They really seemed like they were trying to push the reveal of Hikaru partially into Season 2, with hiding his name in a folder on Gotanda's PC in Ep 4, and putting this scene at the very end.
