It's crazy how Shippuden is about to end it feels like it's been forever. I personally didn't watch it on Toonami since dub has been over for a couple years now. But Toonami has finally reached the end.

I'm personally a big Boruto fan and I'm wondering whether it will replace that time slot or if they will just re-air Shippuden. It would also be cool if they re-air the OG series too.

@Kelly32723 Well toonami was canceled at one point but came back some years later and has been running since.

@Mg_Bandit yeah the dub ended years ago but I've been sticking with toonami dub even though I could've binged some time ago. I was already deep into toonami airing so I wanted that sense of accomplishment for watching weekly.

@Pillsbury_Uchiha nope toonami is going to air the last episode of shippuden like next Saturday. They got shippuden later than when the actual dub came out. They were years behind.

Both have been finished for years now. Subbed and dubbed, so what are you yapping about? I mean if they aired the last dubbed episode years ago it would have more impact.

@INTJ_Ren don't remember asking if they finished dub or sub years ago.Toonami came back in 2012, even if they immediately played shippuden, it would have ended on there in 2022.

I remember asking what are you yapping about? A already completed dub, broadcasting in a network, that’s been back even before the dubs release; the impact would be greater if they did this years ago. That extra shit wasn’t necessary.

I've owned all of naruto and shippuden on dvd for years so i finished it 2ish years ago but i did grow up 2004/2005 watching it week by week episode by episode with some hiatus's and rewatches thrown in. but when i did finally finish it 2 years ago all i can say is that it was surreal. i started watching it when i was 9 and was 27 when i finished. naruto was and has been a part of my life for almost all of my life. it was my 1st anime, my 1st shounen, my gateway into the medium of anime and Japanese culture in general. i literally grew up with the characters. we aged together. it truly was a unique experience that i will never experience again. im not going to say its the greatest anime ever but it definitely had the most significant impact on me as a person. there were times growing up that were so difficult and isolating that looking forward to watching the new episode on Saturday was the ONLY thing i looked forward to. my house, my grandparents house, a friends house, a hotel room, didn't matter, i wasn't missing an episode. i even had to watch an episode of kimimaro vs lee fight in a car dealership waiting room because my parents dragged me along all day. to me it wasn't and isn't just a show, as lame and cringey as it sounds and is, the characters were friends and family to me. i aspired to be like them, their personalities shaped mine. and no anime that will ever exist will do that for me again.

@INTJ_Ren And I don't remember being obliged to answer you. I didn't start this thread to get into a useless debate over a 25 year old series. If you want to go right ahead by yourself.

@xXGoreGrinderXx Ah wow, that's a great story and I know it's similar to so many out there, the impact the series had can't be understated. I definitely agree the experience isn't going to be replicated in our lives again. I hope the new generation find their own series as special to them.

it was truly something special. whenever i feel down i just remember that i got to experience it brand new as it aired weekly. people can never say that again. it makes me appreciate when i was born. its sounds like you share a similar sentiment. thanks for making this post. it really made me remember my childhood.

Then maybe don’t answer at all. I’m not obliged to say something that strikes a positive chord with you just cause you can use a feature that’s been around for 20 years. I Saw a thread, stayed on topic, and you had a problem. If that ain’t the definition of useless then I don’t know what is. Not my fault you’re out of touch with the Naruto franchise.

@ido4224 it's basically a programming block in america (but it airs in some other countries too) that shows anime. It's what really popularized anime here, the co creators really were kinda the ones that made dbz popular in the west.

@Arcanius7 Basically, what got me back into Anime in 1997 I believe. But they only had Sailor Moon & Voltron to start with. They improved every year after, adding new shows.

@Sheol01 Yeah it got many Americans into anime,I think I got into it a few years before but wouldn't have truly dived into it without toonami.

The topic title is "ending on Toonami" and you are talking about the sub and dub finishing years ago. Did you mean to count when they released the final batch of episodes back in 2019 or are you saying Toonami already finished airing all of Shippuden before? Or did you mean to say Toonami should've skipped airing all of the filler so it would have ended the canonical story sooner. Got a bit lost in the discussion here.

Eh. It would have been more impactful if it was the first place to release all the dub episodes first when the dub finished years ago and Naruto part 1 is currently being re-aired on Toonami Rewind so it's not going anywhere.

@MinakoBestGirl Perhaps, but it's unlikely they would have gotten dubs as they were brand new.Even when they air new shows they usually wait till a few dub episodes are out, unless the show is a collaboration between toonami and let's say crunchyroll for example, then they could get the dubs brand new.It usually applies for long running weekly shows but there could be random delays in dubs cause maybe a va got sick or something. So they would have had to make a great deal with pierrot for that (and some shows they already pay a pretty penny for). Granted they probably weren't that far behind boruto.

The topic doesn’t make much sense. If a anime has already concluded in both English sub and dub before Toonami decided to broadcast it, it defeats the purpose of the discussion.

The dub for Shippuden was available through piracy shortly after the subbed version ended. Additionally, the NS4 game already had the dub prepared for all the canon parts, excluding any fillers.

The dub ending on Toonami doesn’t carry much weight since anyone could have watched it by now, and it lacks the emotional impact that this thread suggests.

@INTJ_Ren listen I'll level with you, it's probably far less important than I'm making it out to be. But toonami is one of the biggest and most important anime networks in the west. Alot of people were introduced to naruto through them, before them it was like fansubs.I agree it's probably not the big deal I'm making it out to be but if you think one of the biggest anime networks finishing one of it's flagship series after near 20 years has no significance "well uh that's just like your opinion man". Just kidding. You're welcome to it though.

Also no,you, nor anyone else has to strike a positive chord with me, I don't want nor need every single person to agree with me. That's all I really have to say.

Edit:Just because I'm finishing now doesn't mean I didn't know how it would end years before, I knew even before the anime ended, with the manga.
