guilty pleasure implies you know its bad but you enjoy it. nah, DxD is straight up one of (if not) the best ecchi anime I've ever seen.

my reactions in order:
ecchi scenes are sometimes cringy but mostly ok,
there's actually a plot?! and its also good?!!!
character writing exists?! what???!!
op is by far the best one I've ever seen on a "low tier anime"
and it actually ends (somewhat)

The main story is awesome if you have the personal
self-control, maturity, and patience to follow what is actually going on.

Yes, this has a lot of “fan service”, but intelligent humans see the uniqueness of Issei’s honest character and how he sincerely affects Ria’s team.

I was so surprised to realize that only a few people saw how amazing this show really was.

Note: I don’t lazily watch 3-5 episodes, biasedly compare to other anime, or unfairly judge by surface level similarities. With every anime I start, I watch the entire series, both Japanese Sub & English Dub, then judge each anime based on what they present, to give an honest and fair rating.

Those who didn't read the light novel are missing out a lot. If you really want to enjoy the story, read the novel. Anime version is limited by their funds and studio. The author has a clear direction for the story. Plus, you will get to see Issei's household members.

(I'm gonna spoil it a bit to rake in people's interest, Sirzech's wife is Issei's queen piece)

It's unironically one of my favourite anime I've seen. Part of that is because it was one of the first anime I watched, especially in the Ecchi genre. Which I don't even like, I find it superficial and boring, even back then. But HDXD was more like a parody than anything.

I've always said that I'd still love HDXD without the boobs, because of the hype from BOOSTO!!!! is really fun. It's one of the only anime I've ever rewatched.

The art style is also up my alley before they changed it and made every character look the same. The last season was far too Ecchi for me, the focus was way more on Lewds rather than the fighting, where it used to be only for a means for the MC to power up, it's used as a major plot device for plot development with characters just being consumed by lust when it was a very tongue in cheek - guy sees boobs and gets powerful - fun story.

I'd recommend watching it until the studio change, since season 3 had an anime original ending and season 4 retconned half of the 3rd season so they could keep in canon which as I said, was more focused on Ecchi and was much less satisfying than the anime original ending which wraps the story up nicely.

Pro tip: Wear Headphones.

the term " guilty pleasure " is extremely dumb and means nothing as in any discussion about anything, so no it's not a guilty pleasure of mine, it's genuinely good

you don't see people going around saying " FMA/OP/Naruto/MHA are my guilty pleasure " when they talk about" bad " shows they enjoy because even tho many people don't like these anime, it's socially accepted to call these anime good, unlike ecchi and harem where people have to perform mental gymnastics just to admit that they like something that's admittedly degenerate and horny like saying " this is trash, but good trash " which is also a dumb statement that means nothing that you're only using because you're insecure about what you like that you have to call it bad because it's seen as bad

I don't disagree but my point is that people ONLY call these types of shows guilty pleasure and whatnot but other " socially accepted " shows aren't called this term even when people call them bad

DxD and hs of the dead are both sooo good regardless of being ecchi. I reccomend all seasons of both. I'm asexual I literally come here for the story I don't think any of these girls are particularly hot.

I am sorry for getting offended it's just sometimes people will watch something that has they don't like when it has a tag saying that it will have the stuff and is really anonying. personally while I understand about having to much of stuff I just think it depends. i wouldn't say it took it from the plot but that's just my opinon bc personally it doesn't bother me. ps what do you mean by dxd is parody it's dosent have the parody tag on I don't remember anything being make fun of?

I am still surprised how popular this show is overseas, despite not having a new season for several years and probably never getting one. I don't see many japanese people talking about DxD, but DxD still has lots of talk and often has the lns in many book stores.
