I've read the manga and really enjoyed the arc, but I'm debating watching the part of the anime that covers this arc. Did the anime adapt it well? Or should I just stick with rereading Arlong Park?

it's worth watching in the anime even just for the "walk to Arlong Park" scene (with THE most iconic , goosebumps inducing bgm in all of One Piece) alone.

Voice acting - especially for Nami - being great, helps too.

I prefer the manga if you consider the whole arc, but the hat's scene, I prefer in the anime.

Either one is great, but if you don’t do the anime then you don’t get to hear the music and man let me tell you that walk to Arlong park with the music? Is the reason why I’m a one piece fan to this day.

My personal opinon I think it did a phenomial job the music,voice acting 👌 masterclass you can feel the emotion. Especially one scene the walk man one of the best anime addition ever.

Just watch the special Episode Nami, the walk is less epic but the animations are much better

I would say that the manga is better, but the anime version of the arc is a good version of it and worth watching.

well yes, but for this arc specifically i personally think that its good as an adaptation.

As someone who watched the anime first and completely binged it in the span of four months, I had a more personal touch and resonance with the anime’s take on Arlong Park. That along with the perfectly timed comedy, dark themes, tragic backstory, and the amazing voicing of all the characters really set the story in motion as far as the anime went for me.

I did afterward go and read through the manga’s version of it too. And honestly, it’s just as effective and emotional. While I personally love the anime take on it more, it’s clear that either way you choose to consume Arlong Park, manga or anime, it’s one of the best parts of One Piece and grounds itself for fantastic arcs to come.

the anime honestly does a pretty good job for a while before the manga REALLY becomes the fan-preferred medium. arlong is still well within that range of good.
