Ik this released literally today but does anyone have any thoughts as to when or if it will release in cinemas worldwide? I live in the uk and I was wondering when I can expect it.

Not sure if releasing in cinemas worldwide happens at the same time as releasing on streaming (I assume it happens before), but, for the second one, I estimate it takes about 7-9 months based on other movies

2 movies that i waited for got released in 3rd party sites in 2-3 months. The person above me says that it can take 7-9 months which could be true in subscription based sites, i personally don't care. All in all, you will have to wait at least 2 months in the best case scenario

No , way before.
Generally , theaters releases outside of Japan are made between 1 week to 3 months after its original release.

And legal streaming sites gets the rights of distribution for it once the Blu-ray is released , so between 6 months and 1 year after its original release.

It's generally the delay for the Blu-ray , which is then taken by streaming sites. (Or fan-translations.)
If it gets screened outside of Japan , someone will most probably take a Cam-rip of it and upload it way before the delay is over.

I never see cam rips of anime movies.

It depends , but most popular Anime Movies got uploaded as Cam-rips before their Blu-rays. (Dragon Ball Super : Super Hero , Fate/Stay Night Movie : Heaven's Feel , One Piece Movie : Red , just to name a very few...)

You can still find them on torrent sites.

Off to the high seas when the overpriced Blu Ray comes out.

actually blame Aniplex of America (and the OTHER anime distributors in the USA) as well as the CRAZY LOW TICKET SALES! for that one not AMC or Amstar or the other theater corporations. this year i got to watch TenSura's movie in Edub locally at my Amstar theater and it ran for a full 8 days there, but just one show a day. each language ran, with Subs (for four days) first then Dub (for four days). there was a short break in-between each language for 2 days, probably for new digital media to be mailed to the theater and the old media to be mailed back to Funi-Roll. i actually was the ONLY person sitting in Day 2 of the Edub in my theater. NOBODY else showed up at all! private show! :> you can 'blame' Funi-Roll-Aniplex-SONY Jp conglomerate etc. for that one.

previously my Amstar had the FIRST SAO Progressive movie and i got to watch it in Edub as well. it only ran for a total of 7 days locally, 3 sub and then 4 Edub with one again a 2 day break between the languages and once again just one showing a day. i watched day 1 of the Edub with a coworker and he and i were the THIRD and FOURTH! persons in the theater! a teen guy and his 40-ish dad were sitting there before we got there. i talked a bit with the kid and he said ALL his buddies went to day 1 and 2 of the Sub. so apparently those showings were crowded! blame Aniplex of America for that one 100%... Funi-Roll has nothing to do with SAO other than streaming.

as to the SECOND SAO Progressive movie, this year i had to drive 100miles ROUND-TRIP to see that one. Aniplex released that one through REGAL CINEMAS annd i don't have one of those locally. pretty much the same pattern of languages, dates, one show a day, and the 2 days down. and once again i was the ONLY person in the theater.

since the 'Rascal' series is entirely Aniplex of America's 'baby' and according to Funimation's blog from 4/13/2020 "Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dreaming Girl was released in theaters in 2019 and Funimation and Aniplex of America partnered together on its release.  Starting 4/17 at 3 p.m. CT in US/CA, Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dreaming Girl will be available for streaming on Funimation–until 4/20 at 3 p.m. CT. That means you’ll have three days to watch this incredible movie!" since 'Dreaming Girl' came out June 15, 2019 in Japan... that streaming event on Funimation Now was APPROXIMATELY 10 MONTHS later. so as far as i know, NOBODY released Dreaming Girl in-theater in the US! so, don't expect Sister Going Out to be in-theater in the US either.

frankly, other than Funi releasing one or two Dragonball movies in-theaters, Aniplex and Funi releasing 'Your Name Is...?' in-theaters... SAO Ordinal Scale in-theaters from Aniplex... TenSura's movie... and now the two SAO Progressive movies... anime movies don't sell tickets or are popular enough for ANYBODY to make a decent profit off them in North America. wait. i THINK Funi-Roll released the 'Quintessential Quintuplets' movie.. yeah December 2, 2022 in-theater in North America. i totally skipped that one and didn't even look up if it was on-screen anywhere near me. i just waited for a pirated version to stream online.
just an ol school American otaku enjoyin the life. don't sass me kiddies, i've been otaku probably since before you were born. leave me in peace and i won't bother you either.

I'm afraid of the time we will have to wait before the release in France, anime movies rarely come out in theaters and when they come out, it doesn't stay long (except Suzume)
