I may be stupid for asking this but coming from a new hxh fan after the Mangaka put the manga on hiatus why did the anime stop adapting the anime to the remaining chapters available?

I mean, the next arc where the anime left is not even finished. If they wanted to keep adapting, they’ll be adding filler up until this day.

You’re not stupid by any means it’s just a simple question you didn’t know about. I’ll explain it :) HXH is not yet done, but I do not think we will see anymore adaptation of the anime at least in my personal opinion. According to Togashi, he says he's on hiatus due to medical issues and that he's eventually continuing but the demand from the manga company is too much stress for him. The quota he has to fill is a chapter a week which if you don’t know is a lot for anyone in the manga industry.

He’s not on hiatus anymore. He made a Twitter account this week and posted pictures confirming he is working on Hunter Hunter.

There are 36 Volumes total so far. Only 32 of them have been adapted. The anime ending corresponds with chapter 338 titled "Atop a Tree", currently there are a total of 380 chapters.

I will note that if you are not familiar with Yoshihiro Togashi he does take frequent hiatuses from his work on the Hunter x Hunter manga so it is hard to expect a consistent release schedule. It is awesome to see he’s back to working though ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

I am familiar with him. The last Hutus was over 3 years. That’s why it’s a big deal he posted pictures he’s working on it.

I’m well aware it’s a big deal. I’ve been waiting for this for awhile actually. I’m letting the original poster who was a new HxH fan know since they probably don’t have much info on him.

Well episode 148 ended off on a pretty perfect spot. If they kept adapting, more content is obvious but the conclusion point probably won't be as satisfying

Cos then they would adapt like half an arc and it wouldn’t rlly make sense

Because it was a good stopping point and the arc ahead of it does not yet have a proper conclusion.

a good example is Full Metal Alchemist look at how bad the first one was compared to Brotherhood when they had a manga to follow instead of making up their own story.

Because there wasn’t enough remaining manga to make a full arc of anime so they’d either have to stop in the middle of an arc or finish it themselves potentially dooming the anime to be inconsistent with the manga if it caught up one day.

The studio decided to pick an appropriate ending since the manga when the anime ended was only like 10% into the next arc. there were 2 small mini arc type things they could still adapt as a 12 episode thing, but it would've ruined the ending and made it feel like it was cut off mid arc

Togashi went on hiatus and there were not enough chapters to animate left.
