Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- (light novel)
| Hey, where do you guys recommend I read the re:zero web novel? I found 2 places: freewebnovel.com and witchculttranslation.com, however I noticed they don't seem the same really. From which one should i read? Also if you know any better places, you can let me know as well. |

| witchculttranslation.com is considered THE place to read the Re:Zero web novel. You might have to visit other sources for certain chapters however; most of them will be linked on WitchCultTranslation so don't worry. If you decide to read Arc IV (season 2) as well I would suggest reading the chapters available at translationchicken.com first since they are translated better and in more detail. If you have the extra time I would definitely recommend reading Arc IV. You'll find that it is a very different experience from the anime, with somewhat of a different tone and many descriptions. Finding translations of the earlier arcs can be more difficult since most of the translations were made in order to continue the story after season 1. |

From what I know, every arc except arc 3 (which forms the second half of season 1) had a good adaptation. I can say for sure that season 2 as a whole adapted arc 4 well. There are still few cuts here and there but it's not too bad. If I would suggest reading the LN/WN, it would be because of the additionnal descriptions which really add to the experience. They explain in depth how characters think and feel which adds a whole new layer to the story. Also, these descriptions clear up the confusion certain viewers felt when watching the anime and prevents misunderstanding certain scenes. For example, Reason to Believe was quite controversial in the anime, yet it is a loved scene to almost every novel reader. In that regard, the anime cannot adapt these in-depth descriptions. The narrative would become too slow. It's really up to you however if you prefer to read arcs that you've previously watched for extra detail. |
