| I am gonna explain you. Read properly. yes taki was and is 3 years younger than mitsuha. If we consider taki's time as present,, mitsuha lived and then died 3 years ago. So taki is now 17 and mitsuha was 17 , 3 yrs ago before dying.Now they switched both time and body and they had no idea that there was actually a 3 yrs time gap between them.both of the m though that either of them is in their present time.so when the comet killed mitsuha and destroyed the village, taki could no longer switch as because mitsuha from 3 yrs ago then died. But somehow( due to some super natural potion drinking), taki could do go back to that village in his own body and could meet mitsuha for the first time face to face. that wa the evening of the comet calamity...taki already came to know every secrets of their switching after he recognised mitsuha as the girl who 3 yrs ago made him touch a string which set a connection between them. That is why even when mitsuha died 3 yrs ago, taki could switch bodies with her travelling 3 yrs back when she was alive. Now then taki in mitsuha's body evacuated all from the village and everybody along with mitsuha were saved.. Now as the dead ones are alive again, it is a huge change in the past. So it made taki and mitsuha forget everything when both of them come to present. At present everyone is alive as they were saved.taki is 22 and mitsuha is 25 or something. It is not an alternate timeline. It is just the present with every dead villagers alive. understood? do give me a reply. |

| Dude. You need to rewatch the anime because you're funny. They had a 3 years gap which the others explained it to you. Mitsuha died 3 years ago (Taki never knows her but Mitsuha does), but after 3 years, Taki knows her but Mitsuha is dead. You understand that? |

Seriously that was a big help actually I watched this movie a year ago and I got confused over this whole time issue then search on yt but mainly they were saying that's a flaw of movie but now today you explained I think now it's time to rewatch this movie .
