I know that’s what it says on myanimelist, but the opening credits specifically mention the magazine that the manga is being serialized in (Monthly Shounen Sirius) and the publisher (Kodansha), and not the light novels. You can even check the staff page, https://www.ten-sura.com/anime/tensura/staffcast.

Whoever changed the source to the light novel on MAL was wrong.

Hmm.. maybe the cour 2 is, dk but up until now there have been some differences that I found in manga and anime but were in corespondence with ln... that and the fact that most adaptation seek original source material, I didn't really think it would be going from manga, not to say anime will soon catch up to manga and soon surpass it.

Could be the manga is credited for character design or something, but either way it's really wierd that they wouldn't credit the LN whether they are going from the manga or not cuz it is infact the primary souce material.
