Does the anime still follow the Light Novel timeline or are they going for an anime-original season 2?

We dont know until its out. But pretty sure they will follow the light novel. They wont waste a good story like that. And they have their own original ready to be aired, and also Kaguya-sama S3 in production. They are busy enough, so pretty sure no original story.

Won't it be kind of weird to continue with the light novel since at the end of the anime, it shows that Shinei "died" (his beheaded body), but the Wiki say that Shinei is still alive in the light novel so i'm confused....

Also, don't forget information from episode 5, 7, and 11.

- Lena deduced that based on what Shin told her, the legion are amassing forces that the Republic cannot detect and are sending the bare minimum to whittle down the Juggernauts so there is some kind of strategy at play here.

- Episode 7 introduces an ultra-long range artillery that is evidently a threat to the Republic since it was within what they could detect, and the last episode confirms that that artillery is a shepherd (with inference from Shin's ability)

So these are two information from what I can tell.

It pretty much does but I was hoping for some changes because in the anime, the execution is kinda weird and over dramatic at times. Probably because of the voice actors. I hope they get better in Season 2.
