Ability to Check if there are unwatched seasons of an anime

New
Is this a good idea

A tool that could go through my anime list and then tell me if there's a new season that I have missed watching. I have been watching anime for a long time and sometimes it's not possible to keep up with all the anime releases that come out which leave some animes in the dust.

This type of mechanism is not clear to me.

You can check current and past seasons by going to Anime → Seasonal Anime.

Sometimes you receive notifications of some TV series, OVA and movies if it connects with what you have on your list.

Well sort of like when you use the filter on the seasonal anime but it shows all anime season you may have missed out on.

mmm... I think that depends on what you talk about. If you are referring to a Season of a TV series, you can manually check for the series you previously watched or are watching and review the "Related Anime" section.

If you mean a "Season" (Ex: Winter Season) I think it is a very specific option.

Well what I am talking about is a feature that automatically goes through your list and recognises that you do not have later seasons of an anime you have completed in your list.

That's what I mean, it's a very specific option for something like that, that is, you usually receive a notification of the sequel to a series that will be released soon. But having a mechanism that tells you that there is a sequel as soon as you finish the first season, it seems unnecessary (Apart from that not everyone will want to see the sequel if they did not like the first ...)

    From Completed list
  • Click entry (preferably the latest related to that set that you can tell)
  • Scroll to Related Anime
  • If there is a sequel to that entry that's not in your completed list, you missed it; keep checking for sequels for each other sequel too.
  • Go to the next entry and repeat until you are done with your completed list

I can see you haven't watched the sequels for Chuunibyou, Akatsuki no Yona, Date A Live, Danmachi, Infinite Stratos, K, Kekkai Sensen, Kore wa Zombie Desu ka?, THE ENTIRE MAGI SERIES EXCEPT THE SPINOFF THAT WASN"T EVEN THAT GOOD COMPARED TO THE ACTUAL SERIES, Ookami to Koushinryou, Owari no Seraph, and Tokyo Ghoul.

Those are just from my memory, I didn't check every entry. It really shouldn't take you that long to check yourself, think 10-30 seconds per entry depending on your internet.

You also get notifications of new related anime that are added to the database (which includes sequels; as long as you have the latest related entry on your list)

This should be a feature since it's hard to remember if you missed anything and currently have to annually check. It should just be a page for incompleted series/franchise you can go to that lists what you missed.

This is a feature that is available on anime.plus (e.g. here), a MAL add-on website which takes your publicly-available list and extracts lots of interesting info from it.

Given how the feature is very resource-intensive (it borderline crashes my browser on my own list because I have watched way too many anime with missing relatives), I doubt it's ever going to be added to MAL proper.

Like the user above said GRAPH has this and I think it's enough. Also you can use MALSync. (you don't need any AniList or Kitsu account)

It makes the relations like this:

This is just what I needed, wierd that the feature is hidden in the recommendations, but that's fine. Thank you Jhiday! :D

You can also use Chiaki. They have a Sequel Locator and Watch Order guides. Just connect your MAL.
