| The "golden days" of English fansubbing have passed, though a few of the best groups like Live-eviL still remain. Underwater seems to do pretty good work these days. Among older groups I'd look for subs from Ureshii, Central, Static, Aoi, BSS, Doki, Lunar, and Eclipse. For a true labor of love, look for the Black-Sheep version of Mononoke. This was created by a one-off collection of some of the best fansubbers of the time who all wanted to work on just this show. It's their one and only production, and it is excellent. Ureshii's version of Dennou Coil also ranks high on my list. |

I know most encoders either chooses UTW, FFF, Underwater or Horriblesubs (if no other choice). But it would also be great if I could have a reliable and consistent source and still have a back up option. |

| Anyone remembers THORA...? Anyway, it depends on the Anime tbh. Sometimes, Doki could be really good at this release, and really shitty on the other. Just take your time in checking the "best" fansubbing group at the lower part of every Anime and you should do fine. |

His translations and encodings were awesome. For now I'm looking at Underwater, FFF and lastly would HorribleSubs. |

Yeah sometimes I have to look at other reliable anime sites with downloadble LQ vids just to confirm better reference. LOL Have you ever tried some fansub comparison sites like this? Might help you out without the need to download because man that's a hassle. But I applaud you, good luck! |
