Good ones, I think Monster is obviously a masterpiece. As for the others, I am not sure but as I mentioned the deffinition is still to be cleared, so I am interested in your oppinion on that topic as well...

I suggest Blue by Kirko Nananan for it pushes the boundry of what a manga is. As well as Akira and Nausicaa (those two are obvious).
"In the Beginning, the creative energy radiates from within."

No, no. That's Lame. Sounds like something out of a Jodorowsky comic.

The Tokusyu Manga Club - Features alternative comics/avant-garde comics/outsider comics/psychdelic comics/surrealistic comics/underground comics + La Nouvelle Manga (part of Alternative).

If I'm here, its because I have nothing better to do.

I haven't read Blue so I can't really vouch for it, but I've read her other works and she's awesome.

Yes, OMG yes for Akira! I haven't finished it yet but yes yes yes.

I love Nana but haven't catched up on it for a while, so I can't really ... uh. I so need to read a lot more manga.

Forgot about these:
Red Color Elegy - Seiichi Hayashi
A Drifting Life - Yoshihiro Tatsumi
Tekkon Kinkreet - Taiyo Matsumoto
Solanin - Inio Asano
Nijigahara Holograph - Inio Asano (the most nonlinear manga that I have come across)
Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou - Hitoshi Ashinano
"In the Beginning, the creative energy radiates from within."

Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou is definitely a masterpiece. I would add also:
- Planetes - human loneliness in endless space - too bad it's so short
- Fullmetal alchemist - in my personal ranking the best shounen manga ever with a huge bunch of great characters
- Hikaru no go - you'd never say that manga about ancient chinese board game will be so fascinating
- Shin Angyo onshii - well, it's a manhwa, but it has a very surprising and ambitious plot, great characters and the probably the best art style I've ever seen
- Mushishi - IMO the best anime ever is based on this manga.

For sure I must nominate Yotsuba&! by Kiyohiko Azuma.

Maybe not the best storyline or art ever, but the humor in this series is close to unrivaled.
