That jerk. Ugh. I understood why he told his father, but it doesn't make him any less ignorant and annoying. I wonder if he feels the slightest bit guilty that he had something to do with someone else's death.

For a feminist work from 1980s Japan, I think it's perfect. It felt like an answer to Class S relationships ("lesbian until graduation") by expanding on life outside that genre, outside of the school setting. Adult women in adult relationships making adult decisions.. years after their literal graduation! The way Kaoru and Sahoko actually had individual lives/ time separate, before doing anything together says a lot about how thoughtful, sensitive and passionate the author probably was toward these issues?

Tho 'bury your gays' at the end would have felt less out of place for me if only Kaoru had a bigger reaction toward the son. Everything prior was treated seriously in context- them being so relaxed together felt silly. Best thing about the flashback was her short hair.

Really enjoyed reading this otherwise.
