Really want serious romance anime

Absolutely no harems and preferably no fanservice. I would really like a sports romance anime too. I recently watched Suzuka and didn't really like it, but I liked the concept of having sports as a side, though not as the main focus.

Anyway, I really liked the following romance:

I tried and extremely hated:
School days

I tried and dropped:
Ef Memories/Melodies
Honey and Clover (didn't like the characters, too bad since it fit all my criteria)
Nodame Cantabile (hated the main girl)
Little Busters
Kare Kano (I usually dont care about how it looks but this one I just couldn't stand)

Ef a tale of memories/melodies is smth you have to watch then
try also true tears

ef is filled with drama btw, its rly sad serious and amazing
true tears is kind of obvious, but its still pretty good
