Why is this anime so terrible? O_O

So, I watched this a while ago and it was such a terrible anime.
Unbelievably slow-paced and not in the peaceful and pleasant way, the boring way.
Sad, flat animation with countless slow camera pans over dull inexpressive eyes.
I didn't understand how CLAMP could create something so lackluster.

Then I happened to read a summary of something from the manga.
And I'm like what? That never happened!?
So I started reading the manga and OH MY AWESOME SAUCE is this thing great ^___^
I don't know how they managed to ruin such a wonderful story but I'm glad I gave the manga a chance <3

And this is coming from a person who tends to prefer anime adaptations.

i watched first the anime, then read the manga. i feel in love with both, but i agree with you in some way, the anime is very confusing and hasn't a sequential story
but my idea is that that anime was made for clamp fans, and not for everybody, cuz you'll only understand everything if you know the story of the whole characters and the way the clamp catches our mind.
besides that, i disagree with you and think that the animation is great and those events "with no salt" gave emphasis in story.

This is an old thread but I felt compelled to comment on it.

I had to watch the first episode three times before I gave up trying to understand it and continued watching the following episodes.
You're right that it's incredibly slow and perhaps difficult to get into, but once I got a few episodes in and it took over my heart!
I'm not sure if you continued watching the anime but it really does pick up and (I think) they did an excellent job with it!

Just wish it was finished.
