His character development stopped because the newtype polls are so in love with Kira and Lacus therefore Morosawa decided to pander their spoiled fans and make the sue couple as the main characters. All the necessary things for Shinn to develop is there but instead he became Durandal's lapdog without even questioning him in the end. |

Did I just read comments saying that Shinn is an interesting character, that Shinn is justified in being a self-important dick who acts like his problems are the only ones that matter and seems completely oblivious to any evidence that goes against his incorrect opinion of the "truth"? That's just crazy talk. Shinn was worthless as a main character, Kira should have been the MC from the start. Honestly I almost dropped this series at episode 10. It's plagued with bad writing and characters that I'm given no reason to care about. This could have been handled so much better. I am completely unable to like Shinn at all, and was never shown any reason why I should care about him in any way whether it be to like him or pity him. He probably would have been a good support character to Kira or Athrun, but he never should have been the MC. |
