I don't. There are so many that is unanswered. I know the manga is longer than this, but at least make a better anime story that fits its ending. If the Shinnosuke won't make a big impact in the anime after he went to India, don't show him anymore! If Kin is never to fight Airmaster after Mina-Kidnap arc, don't show him anymore. there are so any loose ends, and the scanlated are not more than chap 9, when the anime follows until Vol. 21, and last vol. is 28. Ergh...if only I understand Japanese...
I agree that the show gets old really fast and it only gets really good after ep. 23 or so. . .
I know it has a lot of loose ends and that a lot of battles should've lasted longer than 1-hit K.O.'s but in the end it's just a kicking and punching anime.
To be honest, after the 3rd episode my fuel for continuing the series was ti see Mina and her. . .body physics.
I would have liked to see more of Shinnosuke in the series...especially after he returns from India. in episode 26, those few second shots of him looked so bad-ass, it was a waste to just leave it at that.
i dont it made no sense who was that guy at the end and where did he go? What happened to shinosuke T.T? There should be another series to awnser the questions....♥
To the me the show starts off as a really good satire of the "fighting" anime genre and somewhere, slightly after half-way, slips into a pretty decent story arc that you actually start paying attention to. Unfortunately, the writers didn't figure this out until almost too late and start off in all sorts of directions - Julietta, Kinjiro/Nagato, etc - finally settling on the "Ultimate fighter" storyline.
You can get the box-set for less than thirty bucks online and I think there's enough story left to warrant at least a couple of OAV's. I'd like to see more of Air Master, I enjoy the now decent story arc and the over-the-top, satirical references to fighting anime characters and cliches.

What satirical references? i didnt notice any. Maybe i watched a bad sub.
There are many question marks about this show. The strongest martial artist isn't even a martial artist.... nor a man.
There is something i never really got; what age group/gender/person is this anime for? it says shounen but....
Maki got dumber and dumber each episode.... alot.
Who was that ranking guy with the weird hat? i thought he was gonna be "the last boss".

(If this is stuff you already know, I apologize, it's just that a lot of folks don't really know what satire is.)
Ok, the basic definition of a satire is a work that while poking fun at something can also stand by itself - meaning that even if a viewer doesn't "get" the joke there's still a decent story. An excellent example of this is the movie "Scream" where director Wes Craven pokes fun at horror movies, primarily his own. A pretty decent rundown of the references can be found here: http://www.geocities.com/Area51/Zone/1769/s_references.html. A problem with satire is that the story takes second place to the jokes/references so if you don't understand the satire part you think the story is pretty lame - I believe this is the case with most people who've seen the series.
"Air Master" is a decent fighting anime, especially by the end but it also pokes fun at the genre by exaggerating almost every aspect and cliche. Maki has spent her life alone without friends but by the end of the first episode she has a group of friends that are right out "the big book of anime sidekicks" not only are they cliche (see http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/AnimeCharacterTypes) but they're over the top combinations of cliches:
really not a spoiler just too damn long
Renge is a "gonk - big eater - tsundere"; Mina is a "psycho supporter - schoolgirl lesbian - dijikko - plus more"; Yuu and Michiru are "those to guys(girls) - dark skinned red head/blonde - ordinary highschool student" later on she adds little sister, Miori, the "oblivious younger sibling".
The series makes side trips to poke fun at professional wrestling, boy love anime/manga, magical girl just to name a few but, once again, those episodes can stand up as just plain episode, too.
I don't think Make got dumber, just more confused. I think this was an intentional reference by the writer(s) that the series was also getting more confusing as it went along which refers directly to your excellent question about age group/gender/person.
I don't think it's a true "shounen" anime but a take off (or satire) on shounen anime and directed at otaku who'd recognize this and "get" the joke. It has all the shounen elements but, once again, they are all overdone - Mina's tits are too big, Maki, also quite buxom, is a gentle giant who likes vicious combat, the cute kitten mascot inexplicably shrinks to absurd proportions, not to mention Julietta being a grown man in love with a giant 16 year old.
Finally I think that Fukimichi, the "ranking guy", is also a joke and is supposed to be: A. someone fairly powerful in the anime production industry; B. someone who controls anime scheduling of some sort and was easily recognizable in Japan; or C. the guy who actually directed "Air Master".
Anyway, that's my take on it, sorry it's so wordy. "Air Master" started out as a satire of shounen anime but, somewhere along the line, morphed into a pretty decent anime. I would like to see a sequel.
ALL anime shows have those typical tsundere characters, so i think that they should actually point out that it is a satire or else all animes would be.
Like in school rumble when harima pairs Nara together with "the equally roleless character" to teach her to swim.
I agree about the ranking guy probably being someone in the anime production industry.
I think the story started as a serious anime, but later turned into a failed satire with no character developement and a loose ending. Because later on they exagerated (spelling?) everyones personality; Maki gets dumber, the lesbo becomes über lesbo (in the beginning she denied it) and so on.
You might be correct - there's a feeling of not quite knowing which way they wanted to go - I've seen it before in live action when the person who created it moves on to other projects and those left all have different ideas of what kind of animal it's supposed to be and the last one standing (or still around) got to put together the ending.
I think the failed satire theory is closest to the truth. Satires and parodies (Excel Saga, Hayate no Gotoku, Zesubo Sensei, etc) are usually idea driven so there is little character development after their initial introduction. It appeared they ran out of ideas and fell back on the characters but by that time it was a little late. To me, it basically peaked with the pro wrestling arc and started to pick up with the last three.
And I think a lot of people are getting fairly tired of tsundere and several other of the stock types and their overuse is starting to hurt the anime genre in general. - But maybe that's just me <grin>
I wasnt'happy with the ending. I would have rather seen Maki become the new Eternal or something like that.
And I thought the show got better after some eps, besides the one-hit KO's. There were some problems with it, mostly Mina and her annoying attitude and physical appearance! Renge was annoying at first, but she grew on me, I even noticed I laughed about her after about 15 eps.
