Is it tea? Is it pretty-coloured water? Is it (as my dad says) fit only for swirling down the drain?

I know which side I'm on - herbal/fruit tea all the way - but then again I am a Guardian-reading leftie so it's only to be expected.

Sure, it is tea. But not a real man's tea. So I guess I'm kinda with your dad on this.

Hey, more for us, so I don't mind. If it means my house mates keep their paws off my super special loose-leaf Vietnamese green tea, then I have no objections to sexist tea ghettoes.

it's fine, though, if you are cold or if you do not have any real tea left

In Hungarian it's.... tea.... lame D:

Herbal tea is fine, but I like fruit tea more. Still the hibiscus tea I drank in Egypt was excellent.

Well, technically, herbal and fruit teas aren't teas because they literally don't come from the tea plant! Being "real" has nothing to do with it. But I think the word "tea" for beverage has drifted apart in meaning from the word "tea" as the name of the plant over the years. When I call something "tea" I mean "herbal infusion" which includes infusing water with the tea plant or any other plant. So I voted that if you pour hot water over it, it's tea. :P
