| Well, that was interesting. Turns out that Chiba was wrong about the participants and that the Assistant Director was the true star. One can only wonder how many of the participants knew about this, because it's possible that Ono and Noguchi didn't. Had to go back and check, but apparently the miniature set drops off into the real 1:1 scale city, so when we saw those people falling to their deaths, they weren't actually shrunken down by the monster, but simply pushed off the edge. Clever trick to fool the reader, but it couldn't have fooled the characters because...what about the wind and the sun, and the noise from the city below? It only works for the reader, because they don't get to experience those, but the characters should. Oh well, it's still a fun twisty story. I guess Anamorphosis is a series analogous to the IRL Guinea Pig ones? Though, of course, those aren't real snuff films. You can even go one step beyond and see it in multiple layers:
