| So tell us! How was the transition from high school to college? What are the differences? How was your first day? Point blank I'll say my first day was NOT pretty. I was late, ended up missing class and on top of that I really felt like I wasn't ready for "this" yet. Even when I went to classes I really felt uneasy. Fast foward, I changed my major 3 times. On the brightside, it's sooo much better than high school. Not much immaturaity from people, no random fights breaking out and so forth. Very casual place to be in and to be independent. |

| Well seeming as i started like last week, The major differences that i have seen and such currently were there are so much more people around, classes stretched from 4 hours a week to like 8 or so per class, if you include study after the lectures, but i find it to be more relaxing overall witch i prefer. My first day went well the only problem i had was since i got a year off my BIT my Computer Engineering class was heavy on the math side that i have never done so I've been catching up with the Logic Maths and finding my way around such a big campus. My first week was laid back unlike yrs 11,12 (Australia Collage) where i had so much stuff on i couldn't study just on one class or another in school hours more peaceful overall since there are nicer people around,. |

| My first day at college was pretty great. Classes hadn't started so it was just a move in day. My room mate was really cool which was a plus. We had the city newspaper who happened to be doing a story on college kids moving in. I made friends and had some drinks. It was a great start. Then classes actually started. They didn't start out so bad. I felt comfortable and found everything alright. I even had a few friends in one or two of my classes. The trouble didn't start till later in my science classes when I found out that I had to study a lot more. Then after I had gotten used to everything else. I broke my leg which made life a lot more difficult. It took longer to go to class or anywhere. Also I missed class for doctor's appointments. This was a huge learning experience. |

| Oh god, transition was NOT good for me. I ended up with the worst GPA first semester. And experiencing so many new things.. :] Lol. First day definitely was scary. I didn't know anyone, so who was I to hang out with? I kinda just wandered around and hung out with my roommate. But it's all good new timers, cause you'll make friends soon enough :P |
| well right now Im just in a local community college...which..is boring. And not really eventfull at all. I won't be moving in till later this august but um. yea, Im just hoping that everything goes smoothly...I still have to make sure about parking/books/and get an ID since I already lost mine X_x; not to mention getting a new bike. :3 |

| oh man, it was pretty awesome, the feeling of going to college, though once you get there, you get used to it. I loved the amount of freedom that it gave me, though sometimes i take that too far and end up not doing any work... I cruised through my 1st quarter, then i managed to loose interest and slacked off like mad... ended up with a 0.6 GPA 2nd quarter which lowered my overall GPA to a 1.7... had to raise it back up in 3rd quarter, got myself back up to a 2.7 so im in good shape as of now. I did no studying whatsoever in High School, mostly winged it for all my tests... college... now requires me to study... so prepare for some book reading. also if you thought you were smart or at least somewhat smart in High School... once you get to college... you might feel a little dumb... I did quite well in HS and didnt have to put much effort into anything, but in college, I met tons upon tons of people that were much smarter then me... I felt... not very smart at all... but in the end pretty much everyone is nice and you can get plenty of help from friends. |

| I've been in college since fall of 2001. I don't remember my first day but my second semester was so bad I failed out of my college. I knew engineering was a bad idea. The math classes I had to take killed my GPA instantly. Had to spend a couple years at community college before I could reapply to a different program. I got back into the university after being accepted into the Art College. I plan to graduate with a Master's Degree in 3D Animation. |

| My pharmacy major is a six year program at my school. Medical field majors do even more school. Since I changed my major I'm looking at 5 or 5 1/2 years now. Good thing that I'm on my 4th year then haha. My school is liberal arts so you have to take electives which makes it hard to finish at the 4 year mark unless you do some summer school. Don't forget about double, and triple majors! |

| Lets see, highschool it was fun, borring but fun. Lets see...now I make sure i dont mess up cus i have to pay for classes if i dont pass them. I like to do work so it doesnt bother me, its kinda the same im just older and do more things and like I go online cus i have to work, but the test the test the certifications i have to take i hate studyin so i have to get motivation like chiyo-chan said to everyone after summer breake. lol |

| My first college experience was pretty cool, I ended up living in a quad, and I had 3 roommates who were cool. | My experience seems slightly different to what you guys have had, I graduated High School after only just turning 17, so I had a year off and lived in Germany for 6 months, then came home and worked for another 8 months until I started university. I moved into a hall of residence with like another 170 people, pretty much all of whom moved in from other parts of the country so it was pretty easy to meet new people. The way they run classes in New Zealand seems to be way more relaxed than in the US and wherever. Pretty much all of my papers are humanities, each of which generally only has about 3 lectures a week, plus a tutorial, depending on the class. So my full time study this semester was 13 hours of scheduled class. But some of the papers rely fairly heavily on self directed study. Compared to high school I find it better because you get to take classes with people who share common interests with you, as opposed to high school where pretty much every takes the same classes, especially if you come from a small school like I did, but it is very easy to get distracted by other things and forget to do all the readings and study you're supposed to. |

| I lived with my half brother while I was there, so it wasn't like I went there completely out of the blue. I could speak a little bit of German already as well, which helped. It would have been way scarier going somewhere where I didn't know anyone and couldn't speak the language at all, especially when one of the security guys at the airport in Hamburg wanted to search my bag. |

| lol... interesting, I would just be polite and ask for a translator, tho it might take a while for a them to get a translator or even realize that you request one. but English is a common language that is used all over, so its usually not a problem to get someone that can translate for you. |

| In order to do that my brain would have had to be functioning properly at the time. Except that I hadn't slept the entire time I had been travelling, and by the time I reached Hamburg I think I was pushing around 43 hours of planes and airports. |

| Let's just say that I was lucky to have made a few friends at GMU, for the most part it's a commuter school, with lots of people either chatting on their cellphone or going to their cars after classes are finished. *stretches* And on weekends I basically have the entire campus to myself. It's like a ghost town literally. |

| My first experience here was pretty cool, I moved into the dorms and found a few guys from my hometown which instantly gave me a group to hang out with. I did make more friends and now were all one huge group (big leap from the original 5 guys) and we have all the stereotypes, from the brazilian ladies man, the aspiring lawyer(me), the tech savvy nerd, the emo rocker, the jerk (we all have one in our group), the guy from mexico, etc. etc. so...yeah, we have some pretty good times. |

I went to community college first, so I met with a lot of people with different background- from the snotty hip hop attitude girl to the naive guy from africa who have never touch computers... after a few semester I am getting tired of the social in the community college, it feels more like high school all over again. the professors are nice but the class is a total mess. I joined couple clique, and get stick with scifi/anime club. Then I move to real college, facing real challanges and fear of ever decreasing grades... Now that I am toward graduation, I want to stay in college forever. Real world is tough, and how many years of education I have got seems nothing... |

| The college experience wasn't really anything new or big for me. I had been in college since my freshman year in highschool. I went to an early college academy and we couldn't graduate without college credits. The school had been located on the University of Dayton campus and we took both classes there and at Sinclair Community College. I hated the whole college experience. I hated walking from class to class (especially in the middle of summer and winter). I hated having go to class at one campus and then have to catch the bus downtown so I could attend another class at the other campus. Almost all of my teachers were either college professors or college students. I didn't really mind but for some reason the lack of consistency in grading really bothered me. The only good thing about the college experience for me was meeting new people where ever I went and the fact that the food was decent at UD. Once I stayed in dorms for a week, it was truly decided by me that college campus life just wasn't for me. I decided that for me online college would be way more comfortable. A lot of people say that online schools are easy but thats not necessarily true. The classes are shorter but we still have to learn the same amount as in traditional campuses. Its a lot of independent learning because we can't really totally rely on the teacher for help or classmates because most of us are in different cities. |

| I was actually very lucky... the summer before freshman year, I was part of a six-week program at my college. It was sort of a realllllly extensive pre-orientation for a select number of kids of the incoming class. And so I got to know the campus, a handful of other kids in my grade and older, some professors, and even a few of the administrative faculty all before the school year started. So needless to say, orientation was a breeze for me, haha. And I'm particularly thankful for it, since I feel like I might have died from social anxiety the first few days if I hadn't been part of this program. ^^; And the rest of the year was great for me... made more friends who weren't part of the summer program, and even got the best end-of-the-year grades I've ever achieved, :) |

| Wow! Lots of stories here,Might as well share mine~! Lets see I started College around 2007. Man was I afraid and of course alone without any friends AT ALL. I was basically lost and stuff around campus. The transition was a little better then I thought my High school really sucked. D: Especially when your the only anime/manga fan amoung everyone you know. hehehehe. But that is not the case in my college. <3 Its a Graphic arts College and mostly /everyone/ likes or loves anime. But there is a mix of everyone. So far its been a blast and wouldn't change it for anything in the world. I've never had such good friends before!! x) So no worries fresh men!!! ---Also sometimes I wished we had uniforms. Hahaha. x) My High School was private so I had uniform all the time. :'D made me feel like I was in a High school kind of anime most of the time. hehehe. ^-^; D; But being like that such a long time even now, I find it very hard to choose what to wear at times. =( Its like a transition soon you can't wear the same things you used to like and stuff. Thats the only downside I see. x) Other then that you should be fine!! The only thing I /hate/ is they don't have dorms. Hehehehe. but you can't get everything,right?;D |

| I went to the local community college first and in many ways it was similar to HS because most of the younger students were locals many who came from my highschool but it was very different in that for those that were not in my age group were drastically older most of which adults coming back for education after all the layoffs. Between that and my dual enrollment during my last semester of highschool the transition was pretty smooth. My transition though was quite smooth because during my senior year of HS I had took a summer semester at the college to get a "head start" so that summer night class actually overlapped with my HS year for 2 months so for 6 weeks I was attending college and highschool at the same time. When I got to the college though it was a far cry from highschool. While there were a few assignment heavy professors for the most part it was very exam, paper, and project driven. Also because of the presentations and stuff I had to do by eventually becoming president of the Anime Club there I ended up becoming a lot more outgoing. |
| I decided to get a little real world experience instead of jumping straight from high school to collage. After 2 or 3 years, I decided to get a degree for myself since you can't get a better job than bag boy without a master's degree, $30,000 dollars, and ten to fifteen of the best, most youthful times of your life (bunch of money-grabbing @%$). I really saw no difference between collage and high school in how people acted. Talking about how they hate their parents, who they're going out with....that particular week.....blah, blah, blah.... The teachers are nicer though, the food's overpriced, and there's plenty of gigantic trees. So yea, I think collage is nice.....If only they had Asian Studies, but to do that, they would need a Japanese language class. But their definition of a foreign language course is spanish and french. I think someone's stereotyping. |

| Well I came to this college because everybody were saying how tough to get into it and how good it is infect it is really good at reputation but I feel like I lost my friend circle back in my home town, the country side region, and now when I watch all my friends posting our get together pics and getting coupled up with their high school crush I feel like if I have taken the correct decision on not…. Really I am feeling nostalgic, feeling like am I missing the moment of my life or what ... thou my college days are not that horrable and this feeling amplified because i watched too many highschool anime i guess. |
