Its a good idea but the name doesn't have a good ring to it. ~Plant Bending~ You whip people with vines and ivy or tie them up or maybe work around with trees or you can use water bending to bend it using the water in every plant. :)

~Blood Bending~ would be water bending because you would be bending the water in the blood
~Ice Bending~ again would be water bending because you'd be bending the water in the ice
~Lightning Bending~ would probably be a mix of earth and air bending as it has to do with matter and thunder has to do with displaced air, but I wouldn't know.

Now, I can just see Kurama from Yu yu Hakusho being sent to the Avatar verse to teach Plant Bending...

Ok, I'm going to try and explain this one, if you watch Naruto (I do not) this might be easier to understand. Firebenders bend fire by controlling the "flow of energy" in their body. Now, for a very skilled person, this "natural flow of energy" is not limited to inside the body, that with enough control can flow outside the body. The fire moves, or "bends" with this flow of energy. The same thing goes for lightning, it will build up and then travel though this flow of energy.

The problem with that is if you know anything about lightning it technically wouldn't work, but then again, I guess it would be like if you knew how fire is actually formed, firebending wouldn't work. So, sure, lets go with that.

I know how lightning works, and I also know that we're talking about a cartoon. If we applied real physics in this show, then there wouldn't be any 'bending' would there?.

Lighting bending is considered fire bending so that won't work.

Basically, that's what I was trying to explain.

Don't forget about sand bending and metal bending...

Lightning bending is a cool idea. I like it. I'm a little confused and maybe it's because I'm just missing the obvious (which happens a lot with me), but I know water, earth, and air benders need a source of their element in order to bend it, but how come it seems like fire benders can just create fire and they don't need an actual source of fire? Like in order for Katara to do water bending she always has to have some source of water nearby, but with Zuko and the other fire benders, it seems like they can just make their own.

I have no idea.

How about wood bending, because when Toph and Katara were trapped Toph couldn't bend the wooden jail cell even though she's an earth bender.
How about darkness bending, it might be a little like evil, but somebody who can bend the dark o.o

didn't you watch the series? Blood, lighting and Ice bending all showed up and were kind of explained how it works. Anyway, I thought of Light-bending, to be able to concentrate all the light in one spot and make it very hot, sort of laser :D You could also prevent the light from entering one's eye, thus making him blind.

I guess their power is to make the oxygen in the air ignite and somehow continuously feed it with oxygen to keep the fire alive.

I actually kind of looked it up and I read that they get their power from the sun. Doesn't really explain much still...

But here's a website I found that gives a little info on each of the four Nations and bending..

Maybe its like photosynthesis, but instead of using the energy obtained by the sun as food, they use the energy gathered to bend fire, and the oxygen that is gathered to keep the fire ignited.

Hm...wow...I think you might have something there. ^_^ I never thought of it that way.
