And I've never been more serious when I say your egotistical rantings and obnoxious existence wont be missed, and you shall be replaced very swiftly.

edit: unless you wont in which case we all need to step-up our learning of the Japanese language. :( Ok, come back then.

I'd like to thank babaca from LJ who posted this comment in the Chuunin community.

It's a joke. There was no Naruto episodes this week so when there's none to be had, they either put out a fake episode or announce that they are quitting Naruto.

So, um, let's all be like little Fonzies and chill, 'kay?

I was reading their rantings about not uploading their subs on streaming sites for fear of being shut down, etc. I'm sure other groups have that policy, but here's an amazing idea: Dont put your name on the subs.

Just sub the damn show, release it into the wild, and be content that everyone gets to watch anime for free. Who cares if no one knows you subbed it? Are you really doing it for the fame? Does that 15 minute of notoriety online make your life complete? If I were subbing eps, I couldnt care less about back-patting, as long as the episode gets distributed heavily all around the world then I'll be content with the knowledge that I contributed to lots of people watching anime that they most likely never would have watched had a fansub not been easily available.

Am I being naive and idealistic here? In the future when I'm on my way to being fluent in Japanese I may get involved in fansubbing and find out myself if its possible to run a 'group' with no name. Are there any already in existence? If not, why the hell not? It will boggle my mind if so. Why put yourself at risk by attaching emails or web addresses to illegal fansubs? Am I stupid? Someone tell me!

The only good reason to have a name tacked onto releases is so people know whether to expect an accurate translation, or some terribly inaccurate one. Other than that, I completely agree with you. If you want to escape the wrath of copyright holders and licensors then don't go out of your way to try and make a name for yourself.

Well they are altering somebody's work...so off course its reasonable to demand that other people don't alternate that....Oh and Chihan i guess your just different then most sub groups. Its normal now for people to claim their work...so they do. I guess some of them do it just because its normal and they want to help others find their work, while others are just plain attention-whores.(Db is a perfect example of the second)

But yeah db say stuff like this all the time. They whine way to much and try to be funny in a rude way. So if they continue its another *sigh* for me and if they not then I'm sure that another better group will take over.

Even if this was real, from what I heard Naruto has gone bad lately, so maybe it isn't a bad thing that a major group stops subbing it?

I'm not that far into Naruto so right now I don't really care. If I ever manage to catch up to Naruto it will be a few years down the line and by then I should be pretty much fluent in Japanese so won't need the subtitles.

That is the plan anyway lol.

I don't see why they do these stupid jokes though, because when they really do drop it, no-one will believe them.

Because there's no episode this week (if you were being sarcastic, then nvm =P).

DB always does this kind of stuff when Naruto takes a week off. People should already be accustomed to this.

If they are serious (which I doubt, but it'd be amusing if they are) there are other groups doing it anyway, so it's not like anyone will be put out. It's not like anybody's collection will be all DB and they want to remain pure or anything, since DB picked it up after the first few seasons anyway. So another group shift is no big loss.

Why? I like how they're dealing with things and their sense of humor, and oh basketball fake was their best and ultimate win, if they drop Naruto I'll seriously miss those fakes :< [Which are ALWAYS somehow marked or predictable (no airing week)] Maybe I'll take advantage of it and drop it also, but meh I still believe it's YHTB D:

To me their humor is a dying breed around the internet, they may be perhaps the last bulwark remaining for intellectual humor. Without them, all that's left is the mindless and unfunny youtube. And for all of you bitching about fake subs and trolls, have you yet to realize they have never delayed their subbing to release these?

meh, perhaps it is me that is the problem, maybe the fact that im not bitching like everyone else is a sign im to old to be still watching naruto lol

I agree completely. Mostly, I'm surprised at how dumb the average Naruto watcher is. If the release has a big YHBT tagged on it then it should be obvious. People should start using some common sense too. If a troll or fakesub has been released, then there is no Naruto that week (or Bleach).

I don't think they have ever really done anything wrong. When DB release a troll they always mark it in such a way in such you can tell if it is a troll, either by making a 'typo' (or pun) with the the title, and almost always with the name of the torrent
'nns063.torrent' vs 'ns063.torrent'. People who have a low bandwidth cap can either check for these signs, or wait till a site like baka-updates posts it an hour or so later. The rest of us can either do the same or have a laugh when we down load something unexpected, its like an original form of rickrolling.

The thing that really gets me is that even though there are other groups subbing Naruto none of them are cought up. They're all four episodes behind at least. So it'd be like a month before they get caught up to where DB is but they'd still be a month behind the current releases. My hope is that if they are serious is that another fast group decides to pick up where DB left off, so there isn't a large delay.

I am personally of the opinion that YES, they mean it...right now. Although there are some telling parts of both the "Naruto dropped" press release as well as the "Four years" release after it that make me think that we have been trolled, I think DB may have just become sick enough of losers uploading their subs to other sites that they decided to lay off of subbing Naruto. However, I think they'll probably leave it up until they get results (in other words, until people take down their vids) and then they'll start subbing Naruto again.

Whether they're joking about dropping Naruto permanently or not, I applaud them. People have been abusing DB's fine work by putting their subs up on websites when they have been specifically asked not to, and that abuse has to stop somehow, so cheers to DB for saying enough's enough already. It may turn out to be a scare tactic or it may turn out to be the truth, but at least they took some type of action.

I am also of the school that lawls whenever I find a fakesub or a troll on DB.
