My answers are: One Piece & Naruto

I started watching both on 4Kids/CN (I was a kid ;-;). Although, the Naruto dub isn't as bad as a lot of people make it out to be, the dub for One Piece was just awful. Unfortunately that's why I developed a hatred for it for years. But recently, I picked it up AGAIN (watching it subbed now), and it turns out to be awesome!

I'm sure there was a couple more I forgot to mention, but those stand out the most. Hehe... ^^;

I watched the first episode of D.Gray-man three times because it was a series that I really wanted to see, but the first episode was just so bland that I was put off and gave up on it, then decided to retry it again 5-6 months later, gave up again, etc.

If I had known at the time that it would take ~50 episodes to get interesting, I probably wouldn't have bothered. But then again, I guess most of the second half was good enough that I was glad I stuck with it. :\

GTO was another one. I saw a random episode my friend was watching on TV and thought the anime looked dumb. Then somebody finally talked me into watching it and I loved it, start to finish.

Some of my favorite anime were ones that I lost interest in early on, only to give them a second chance years later. Examples include:

- Haibane Renmei
- Gankutsuou
- Serial Experiments Lain
- Monster

Most recently - GOSICK. First episode was a bit sleep-inducing to me and it seemed awfully predictable and cliché. Then after a while I felt the urge to watch some more Victorica (all the cute screenshots and images probably helped push me in that direction a little) and then I realized it wasn't half bad.

I once dropped Strawberry Panic, but decided to give it a second chance and watch the whole thing. I regretted it. Badly.

really? I was actually considering watching it (because I've never watched yuri/shoujo-ai before) whats so bad about it?

Two words: cliche and drama.
While neither of them is necessarily bad, both of them in such copious amounts as in this show is simply horrible. It simply blew my mind how any show can have so much stupid stuff going on.
Even today I'm not quite sure whether all of this was actually meant to be taken seriously, or if the creators were aware of how stupidly overblown everything was and specifically made it that was.

If you want lots of ridiculous, over the top and implausible drama you can watch it. Or if you like to make fun of bad shows and enjoying the heck out of it. In hindsight that's what I should've done. But I wanted and expected something else, so I jsut ended up hating it.

I agree wholeheartedly with this, think I only managed 3 episodes before I realised how silly it all was.

On Topic: I gave Shuffle a second chance and was very pleasantly surprised to find it was actually good after the first four or five episodes.

Gintama. I thought (and still think) that the first episode was weird and not funny in the least. I tried to watch it 2 times without success. But as they say, third time lucky. I forced myself to go through that disaster and it turned out that the anime gets MUCH better later.

Naruto. I cringed at sheer idiocy of the characters throughout the whole 1st and 2nd episode. But I promised myself that I would watch at least 10 episodes before dropping it. In the 3rd episode Kakashi appeared and I was a goner...

I still plan to give a second chance somewhere in the future to: Code Geass, Inuyasha, Gundam Wing, Chrno Crusade and Katekyo Hitman Reborn.

Princess Tutu. I almost dropped it after the first few episodes, cuz I thought it was going to be really dumb and simple, but in the end, I watched it all and really liked it.

Yosuga no Sora

Horrible sex scenes in all but Sora's arc, no real meaning to them and girls didn't even fight the urge, just bad, you get better in Aki-Sora or better yet 90% of hentai. The arc system itself was a big problem, you don't make an anime into a visual novel, they are two different things. Not enough incest, I should have seen Sora being banged 10-20 deifferent ways by the end of the series.

None yet though I'm thinking on gaving a second chance to Code Geass ( just watched the first episode and didnt like at all, confusing plot, didnt like the character's design and so on xD) I guess that if it has so high puntuation it's because of something ...

Afro Samurai

First watched it when I was an anime noobie, and since it was not your typical anime, I didn't think much of it.

Then a couple years later, I rewatched it when I have had enough of shounentards and moetards, and it was a fuckin' revelation! XD

Code Geass was one that I watched a bit of and for some reason didn't like it. I gave it a second try and ended up loving it!!

Same with Gintama.
Hated it when I first tried to watch it. Then I gave it another shot and became obsessed with it!!

Yumekui Merry
Got bored after episode 4 then put it on hold. Two months later I finished it since I have nothing else to watch.

Gintama
The weird stuff happening made me put it on hold after episode 6. Then came back watching it 3 weeks later for the same reason as the above one. And it got really, really funny later on.

I remember watching these anime last year during spring semester (this was before I joined MAL):
Clannad
I got bored of it after episode 4, I think but I came back to it a few days later. I actually remember what episode I stopped at.

Kimi ni Todoke
I can't remember what episode I stopped (probably between ep. 1-3) but as usual, I started watching it a fews days later right from where I left off. Now it's one of my most favorite shojo anime ever.

Even if I didn't give it a second chance I wouldn't have regretted it. It isn't exactly that good to being with.

FLCL. I get the show soooo much better now as a college student than I did when I first watched it in middle school.

For years and YEARS now, I've had an on-again-off-again "relationship" with Aria. It's only when I picked up Aria the Natural again over this past week than I'm FINALLY starting to really get into the series. Origination, here I come! :)

I guess Gintama.
I never really dropped it... I just had started watching it in a year when I started to watch a lot of things and never ended up finishing them. But I enjoyed it much more the second time watching it.
I'd say Reborn... but that was the manga.
(Read like 300 chapters of Prince of Tennis in basically 1 weekend and just haven;t finished it like 2 years later.)
