What did this Season adapt?

I know that Season 1 covered Volume 1 and 2 of the Novel while the Movie adapted volume 5 for some reason. Does Season 2 adapt volume 3 and 4 like you would assume?

Checking it on manga updates, volume 3 and 4 were skipped, but that happened before season 2, cause the movie adapted volume 5 instead and the season just continued from there and adapted 6-8

Correct. I advise to read the manga instead as well as Gaiden Year One

In terms of the world building and adventuring, not a lot. In terms of fleshing out characters relationships, a little bit i won't lie. But again, the best way is to read Year One Gaiden (prequel-ongoing) first and then Goblin Slayer.
