IIRC they have planned on adapting Kizu after they adapted Bake, but it got delayed for whatever reason. I enjoyed the trilogy but why a compilation film?

I’ve seen some people say it may be an attempt to generate interest in the series after a few years of inactivity to gauge if continuing the adaptation is worth it

I really hope this movie is just for promotion. Even if Shaft already shaft started working on it we won't get any new season until 2025.

Like the other said, I guess is more about a promotion to the series, also a way to win at least a bit of money without too much spent on the production, and depending the profits, see if it's rentable to continue the series.
Also because around 2019 many important Shaft staff leaved the studio, so I think is harder to adaptate the Off season.

do you know why these people left after 2019? I looked up all the anime shaft made after zoku owarimonogatari in 2019 and it looks like they didnt create anything good for 4 years, which is kinda worrying

Tbh, I don't know the reason of this, probably differences between the studio and them, but for example, Itamura left to work in Call of the night with Liden films, and with him went others from Shaft staff, so I guess they also got more works.

@Kochamszopy12

From what I've gathered, it seems the production for shows at shaft is handled very bad by aniplex and hence why some of the staff left due to bad production of shows behind the scenes. But this has always plagued shaft so I don't really understand this mass exodus of staff myself.

I personally don't comprehend it logically.
I highly doubt compilation films are greatly successful like movies are at all.
I have no doubt they don't sell well because who the hell watches them. Their views or demand must be non-existent.

As one who's read the novel, the movies were actually disappointing in not having the same dark feeling of the original and from whatever they cut out.

Although, with all that being said.
As little as the profit they'll get will be, I guess it might be a decent one, considering simply editing a three movies into one as some sort of condensed recap with nothing new at all to it is an incredibly cheap production.

And it will kinda make The Monogatari Series anime a little relevant again before they continuing adapting what's next.

... I do wish they just continued the sequel instead though.
