i was thinking about that since the 2003 version that i loved as a kid. that kino no tabi has potential for a great open world action rpg. its wierd really that to the ps2 there were only light novels released.

I don't think the
>go to town
>shit happens
>leave town
loop could work as an open world game. An old school PC adventure game maybe?

It's interesting to think about how certain stories or worlds could translate into different formats like video games. Kino no Tabi does have that intriguing mix of exploration and philosophical depth that could make for a compelling RPG experience. It's a shame that there haven't been many adaptations beyond the light novels. Speaking of games, have you heard of the Actual Guns CSO mod? It adds custom guns to certain games, which might add a unique twist to your gaming experience if you're into that sort of thing.
