| I realise that as an anime original the answers to this probably just aren't even available at all, but given what we've seen so far (Circa episode 3) the other powers present in this death game are pretty busted and far reaching, just sometimes very unwieldy to use. But Honoka's power, "Carnival" is just a big knife? At that, it's a big knife that functions only for a short period after fresh meat is sacrificed to it. She doesn't seem to wield it with any sort of supernatural strength or agility, so it's just the fact of the big knife itself. It seems super out-of-place. Like, it would be pretty redundant if she just went and got a normal big knife from the real world before fighting people. We've only seen the big knife do one thing so far that a big knife probably shouldn't be able to do, and that is ward off green explosions. Except this being anime we can't even guarantee that that was meant to be supernatural, maybe you can just deflect a blast wave with a big sword in this universe. Further speculating, given that Honoka's sword consumes meat and entire human corpses, and apparently functions better the fresher the meat is, I would assume that if the sword gets stuck in you it can just consume you and kill you entirely over the course of a few seconds. But again, getting seriously hit by a sword of that size is probably lethal anyway so no need for supernatural abilities? Plus if a mere touch is lethal and that's the idea, then something lighter and easier to accurately swing would have been way better. I just feel like either Honoka got badly shortchanged in this death game or her power is very different to what it seems. We still don't know what her wish was either, I guess. I'm curious how her and everyone else came to be so committed to the death game, given that Gorou found out about it from Lall, and apparently the other participants don't have fairies like that. |
