Leaving aside my fanaticism for EVE, this opening was my favorite so far, in terms of animation, direction and music, but the ending "Akari" made me question the hit "Lost in Paradise"
I can't really choose (I did end up with 青のすみか because it's a really fun song and evokes that nostalgic spring vibe) because are we talking just the songs? or the songs + the visuals? how it relates to the current arc?
So many variables to think about
The only ones I didn't really consider were the op & ed for season 1's second cour, they're not bad songs per se (I do like them especially on its own) but it came after absolute bangers like 廻廻奇譚 and LOST IN PARADISE, that I felt robbed when the op & ed changed. Again, I like them in isolation and in the context of the arc it accompanied but something about them having to go 2nd after the bangers the first cour gave us felt like uphill battle. Like, it was hard to compete with an andrenaline pumping song like 廻廻奇譚 and the funky LOST IN PARADISE
They’re all so good. So many bangers to choose from. Visually, specialz is definitely my favorite, I like the song too, but the visuals r incredible. I think song wise, where our blue is, it just feels nostalgic, heavy summer vibes, I was listening to it at the beach even. And it hits hard when you read the lyrics and see how it’s Gojo talking to Geto. I think it’s great visually too. Definitely a super hard choice, I love all of jjk’s opening and ending. Kakai Kitan and lost in paradise are goated too
Specialz w/ the video is brilliant. All the foreshadowing, staging, and little things hidden in there make it... well.. special :) (I'll see myself out...).
Give it back is perfect. So calming and almost nostalgic. While most of the other ops/eds are hype and vibey, to see the characters who are torn by tragedy throughout the story truly experience happiness together in a scene while a song that can only be described as gut wrenching plays over it, it’s easily my favorite of all the ops and eds. A masterpiece
I realized I would place both the OPs and Ed's in the same order being:
1: Season 1 OP&ED 1, Lost in Paradise is pretty much on my top 5 songs coming from animes and Kaikai Kitan is quite good too, not Eve-sexual but definitely the song that brought the spotlight on them deserves it.
2: Season 2 OP&ED 1, the flow at the end of Akari is pure honey, and the Op is rly energetic, though I would argue Vivid Vice would take over the cake if its TV mix wasn't so flat.
3: Season 1 OP&ED 2: I just talked about Vivid Vice, but seeing Cö Shu Nie at the bottom of the poll breaks my heart even more, I get that the singer's tone is unusual and can be irritating but I love their reasonably dissonant style.
4: Season 2 OP&ED 2: I'm waiting for the ED to grow on me, it has potential. But gosh this OP is not my thing, and I doubt I'll change my mind soon... I don't feel the slightest energy coming from it, I'm constantly waiting for a real chorus. Visuals are great hopefully.
The OPs felt quite hard to rank since none of them rly stand out that much to me, but man the endings of that show are just wild.
SPECIALZ its definetelly the best jujutsu OP. Its more than a "Look all the characters together and fighting", its a full preparation for a bloody and very relevant battle to come, exacly as the season whole theme. The entire aesthetic of the intro is also phenomenal, with vibrant red tones and striking music, which claim for all warriors to gatter and battle, while at the same time having oriental touches. And the hands at the end of the intro doing the characters' techniques is a special touch, both in flavor and style. The animation hits Hard.
BUT, best OP/ED have to be Lost in Paradise. See, for me, Jujutsu its at its best when the characters are not fighting. Slice of Life, Character development and World Building are the show best part, thats why this ED its perfect. Its so stylish and tells us A LOT about the characters. I love it.
