Yami was nerfed?

It's been bothering me for a while. Is it just me or they nerfed Yami in this movie? Don't get me wrong, even in his condition in this movie Yami is still the most powerful captain in Clover Kingdom. I just know that he had the ability to beat previous Wizard Kings, not easily, probably with mid-high difficulty tho, but it's can happen.

What do you think?

nerfed! i think he was buffed tbh . . . it's just that every other character was nerfed to make the enemies seem more powerful than they are.
take vanessa for example, she used her fate manipulation thingie a total of one time (if i remember correctly) while yami was spamming his dark slash move just as often as he did before (maybe even a bit more)

anyway, im pretty sure this movie isn't cannon so im not too concerned with it's power scaling.

Well, the wizard Kings were powerful and this event happened during the timeskip. At that time, Yami didn't have his mana zone condensed. So, this Yami was weaker than the Yami who fought Dante in the Spade Kingdom arc. After this arc, Yami was buffed. Furthermore, they (the previous wizard Kings) were being buffed by the nearly endless mana that Conrad was supplying them with the Imperial Sword.

Maybe it was because they wanted Asta's fight to be more dramatic so they made the antagonists strong enough to be all of them

It makes plenty sense to me. The movie takes place in the middle of the 6 month training arc so Yami’s not even as strong as in the Spade War arc or when he fought Dante. I don’t get why it’d be shocking he couldn’t necessarily beat a Wizard King at this point, let alone 4 while protecting ppl.

And then, in the later fight with Jester, all the captains are heavily weakened as their magic was being drained, so it definitely makes sense they couldn’t do it then.

Yeah the movie did Yami dirty. He didn’t use any of the power ups he got at end of anime like mama zone mastery, death thrust etc..but to be fair if he did then he’d insta ko the enemies lol

He wasn't nerfed but highly weakened and running on fumes, as his magic had been drained/badly damaged (same with Fuego and Nozel) when they were fighting Jester. This is why he resorted to sword fighting and saving the rest of his magic for that final combo attack
