I’m currently reading the manga rn and I’m on chapter 61 and so far I’ve seen very little romance. It’s still good but they’ve seemed to focus more on the cosplaying rather the romance. But there’s still some flirty and Romantic scenes. But yea it’s basically a slice of life now ngl

I hate that animes/mangas never just get the main couple together earlier and show them date its always the same o stuff wait til the last ep/chapter

the author probably wants to add only little romance so they can focus on their goals and in the final arc the romance will be back with them officially becoming a couple or a timeskip of them as adults getting married

I havent read nor do I care about this particular manga but it's really nothing new for authors to drag out their successful works with filler and diversions for as long as possible.

You should see what happened to Watamote.

I don't see why this should be less romance than the first season, unless they just ignore that element to focus on cosplay/ecchi, etc.

Apparently, people are claiming the manga has subdued romantic elements after this point in the story up until current (of their posts) arc progress and this is what they're basing it on. Whether this is accurate or they're protagonist level oblivious to romance I cannot confirm as I've not read it.

If anyone is looking for another similar vibe anime with much more romantic oriented story, and imo even better than this, check out

Fuufu Ijou, Koibito Miman.
More than a married couple, but not lovers.

the anime ends at around chapter 27 roughly of the manga, approximately half way point, and the manga is on-going but I'm confident based on the last chapter about to finish and already has its core conclusion done. It feels similar to this but with a much more romance oriented story with a main female lead who actually is similar feeling to this story's MC, though imo more endearing even. Really good series. I actually recommend watching the anime in dub for once due to the incredible dubbing and use of slang, phrases, and jokes in the dub and would even argue it to be peak dubbing quality.

Either way, I look forward to season 2 of Sono Bisque and hopefully there is some decent romantic progress.

Seeing how more characters are going to be introduced, there isnt going to be much scope for romantic relationship building.

If anyone is looking for an anime with a girl like Marin, I suggest "My love story with Yamada-kun", different topic but the development is better, it's not over yet and S1 has a few eps left, but from the manga it looks really promising and it doesn't stagnate

sadly I’d agree that’s better in the romance department but bisque doll is alright for a slice of life and art is good. Anime idk I don’t feel the urge to watch since I read it

It's not even that good of a show, nothing to be that upset about. The show focuses on cosplay, not romance. If anything, not focusing on romance is probably a good thing because the show doesn't handle it very well. Focusing on the cosplay may actually improve the quality of the series.

@epidemia78 Watamote which is still ongoing and STILL hasn't gotten a second season? Out of all the anime that needs a sequel, I'd put that at the top of the list. Although, she's been a second year for like a decade now? Lol

@Markis86 I've watched More than a Married Couple probably a dozen times dubbed at this point. I seriously pray it gets another season. Last year was definitely a stand-off between Marin, Akari and Nazuna.

If any of you were watching/reading this series primarily because of the romance, you picked the wrong series. This show has always had the romance be more of a sub-genre and has always put cosplay information in the forefront. Would it be nice if Marin just confessed and they started dating? Yeah, but you need to be a little more honest with yourself when knowing what you’re watching.
