The writing is really bad, yes I know this is a "male power fantasy (MPF)" but you can write a "MPF" which at least makes some sense and doesn't insult the viewers intelligence when watching and paying attention to what is said.
The animation mediocre, there are tons of shows which look way better. 
Even the fan-service (Episode 8) is censored.

If you remove the cute girls, you're left with nothing worth while, and having cute girls should not warrant a second season.

I finished season 1 and loved it, I really want more. I loved the plot, the animation, the opening etc. etc. everything. Also, it was really wholesome instead of dark in spite of the MC's initial traumas. I also love that even though it's a harem, it's not sexualized. At least thus far none of the characters seem to be sexually attracted to the MC, at least not overtly and that's refreshing.

I agree this anime is good and needs s2 but you lost me at sexualized there’s absolutely nothing wrong with the aspects not and the notion like most please if anything animes are less sexualized do you have any idea how many animes where are a gag comedy they make the mc refrain from his biological nature which is wanting sex and to be frank it portrays unrealistic sentiments because the show is heard towards younger audience to give them a falsehood when in reality it’s just untrue no man is not gonna want to spring in any girls that live for him it’s starting to sound like either your a female with a crippling bias or just immature and dumbfounded or both sexual tendencies can step a anime up because it demonstrates the real life like bond the two have and it doesn’t harm it in any way by doing so you’re just overtly sensitive and immature it’s because people like you that instead of going all out animes ten to hold back the best selling shows not talking about anime game of thrones etc contains sex and is the best selling for a reason it’s people like you that fits anime watchers into the stereotype that “anime are for kids you watching anime as an adult grow up ” you’re causing more harm to the community then assisting it that’s why predominantly gen z are the only ones who majority view anime anyone older than 25 sees lack of sexual tension is honestly turning it off because it’s infuriating why are you only targeting kids you need to grew tf up and come to the understanding that being cruel murderous subduing to one’s natural prehistoric nature is a part of this world stop masking stuff with a facade
