I've seen complaints about the official subtitles taking far too many liberties with the original by adding unneeded Americanisms, and extra lines to fill in the gaps which might throw off comedic timing or the flow of dialogue. So I went to do some digging and found an alternative translation that is far more faithful in my opinion which might be what some fans, including me, are looking for (Rom & Rem subs)

Here's what it says in the description:

- Added honorifics
- Reverse Japanese naming order back to the original custom
- Keep Lum’s talking habit “cha” at the end of her sentences
- More faithful translations

Here's an example from episode 4:

NGL, this post is probably going to get nuked by the mods. That said... I've been using the Zafkiel (Lightly modified official) subs, but I really would like to give some of the other groups a try.

Bilibili have officially licensed the series and they have their own English subtitles. I didn’t see the bilibili subs but I assume they're more faithful to the Japanese dialogue than HIDIVE's alleged "dubtitles".

And as someone already said, this thread will probably get nuked soon. You can't discuss fansub groups anymore after the corporate buyout of MAL.

Whoa, I didn't know about Bilibili doing English subs! I always assumed they only did Mandarin stuff.

Just checked out both the Rom & Rem and B-Global subs. Yeah, both are better than Zafkiel's modified official subs, and the B-Global subs are some of the fastest to show up on the CAT, so I may just watch those from now on, in spite of them being completely unstylized. Only downside is that they come embedded in a 2160p file, which is going to be very hard on my 2010 era laptop.

Here's a quick 'n dirty comparison between Rom & Rem (Left) vs B-Global (Right).

I strongly recommend you to remove any mention of illegal sites from here or else you might get banned.

Also, I don't mind if subbers play around with the subs sometimes and I think some of the HIDIVE subs are funny. Not everything has to be 100% direct and sometimes it's better to translate some lines in a more creative way. But HIDIVE or Sentai subs really take this up to 11 where the Japanese dialogue you hear doesn't match the subtitles at all. It's like they created only one sub for the dub by only looking at the Japanese script and didn't bother subtitling the Japanese voiceover.

The subs I find online, is borderline unwatchable. I get it more by my little japanese knowledge than those shitty subs.
