A question regarding Shinpei (Spoilers)

I remember a review mentioning Shinpei had changed personalities during the second half but I don't see it anywhere after rereading it the 2nd time?

I only saw him get depressed two times but even that wasn't enough to injure his sanity. He is a good mc imo
