A lot of people wrote reviews for this, why not read them?

Personally, I liked the episodic first half a lot, mostly because of the atmosphere, but then it kinda fell off in the second, more plot-driven half, and the ending left too many questions unanswered. Weak 7/10 for me.

Totally agree. The atmosphere in the first half totally carries the show for me. Soundtrack and visuals are also quite great throughout.

(sorry if my English isn't correct)
I really liked it because I found it's one of the most lyrical, oniric anime realized by Masaaki Yuasa. It's also the one that explores the deepest the purposes developed in some experimental projects he worked on before like Happy Machine, Nekojiru-sou, or Kemono zume.

You will also like it if you're into old cyberpunk series like L'incal from moebius, with philosophical quests in distopic societies.

Yes, it's good. Favorite Yuasa series after The Tatami Galaxy and Ping Pong.

It's one of my favorites, without a doubt. It's incredibly unique and artistic, with an absurdly colorful and surreal world. On top of that, it contains super interesting themes regarding materialism, classism, and political hierarchy. It's a hidden gem, and I would highly suggest it to anybody.

First half is awesome. Great world building and atmosphere. The second half is more plot heavy, and, to be frank, the plot was not great. It failed to capture the same feeling as the first half. It’s worth a watch though. Those first few episodes are pretty fantastic.

Like most people here, I would say the atmosphere of this show is magnificent. It's eerie and sad and sci-fi and weird man. The first half is more about stories or other characters (very emotional) that explores the consequences of this new world.

Second half delved into the lore a bit more. I thought it was fine, it makes this world seem more eerie and weird and if u get Ur head around it, can make u understand the events of the main character and the story as a whole.

Also checkout the Tree Song and Chromiko's story if u don't believe me abt the emotion and cool sound track. Do give it a watch! It's an experience that u gotta push through a bit, but is quite unique

9/10

Aside from the shallow 2nd episode, I Love everything about it. There's so much vivid spontaneity exacerbated through out it's delivery and probably one of the most balanced I've seen in terms of the character psych being just as important as the world building, one working in reaction to the other seamlessly (I don't fault anyone for thinking the ending might be kind of rushed though, but personally, I didn't have much problems with it.) It's lyrically more simple than, say, Tatami Galaxy, but no less affecting whatsoever.

Also yeah it's visually impeccable, wished Yuasa had used more of these bubbly designs and alienative atmosphere. It's one of his most charismatic works for me (Forgot to mention the soundtrack, yeah, it's also a very distinctive factor about it that's pretty captivating, working with more ambience and sublime tunes with a good ear to sound design instead of very flashy stuff.)
I wrote a whole review for it months ago

one of the bests, the story, art-style, that numb feeling which makes me completely lost while you're watching, I mean everything about it is just perfect. First it is just boring but after the story getting deeper, the more it gets interesting the more you wonder what's next. Just give it a chance you'd be glad to watch it

YES.

Don't go in expecting a constantly exciting and dynamic atmosphere though. It is very weird both in narrative and aesthetic and ping-pongs between meditative and suspenseful. But one thing is for sure you won't find another anime quite like it.

If you haven't already, I'd also implore you to check out Masaaki Yuasa's other works- Mind Game is a great one.

Oh also Kaiba's music hitsss
