I only watched the dub so I would suggest you the dub but just watch which one is more comfortable for you

100 percent dub revys voice is amazing and the whole cast is great. The guy who does the voice for the Japanese dude in the group also did the voice for Light Yagami in death note. Another reason I love the dub is that to me it makes no sense why revy is speaking Japanese and has broken English when she's a Chinese girl from New York lmao

i watched in sub- most of the voice performances are good, but in season 2 they speak a lot of engrish and it gets pretty terrible 😂

This is a show where if you're an English speaker it's undeniably better in dub. Revy's voice performance alone is enough to watch it dubbed.

I found dub was good because unlike in Japanese you can hear the different accents of the characters(Colombians, Hotel Moscow etc).

I actually watched this with dub, after seeing some comparison videos on YouTube. Dub made sense considering it involves criminals from all over the world and English being one of biggest languages there is.

Both are good, just go with whatevers easier - It is pretty visually simulating so the dub is a good match😊👍

I watched both and I normally suggest sub but this is like the few off chance I recommend dub. The dub fits better for the type of show BL is. The sub does have some pretty funny scenes though where they pronounce words in English. Or u could do what I did watch both lol. Up to u thoigh

Watched every episode in sub except for the last one in dub and I can guarantee that dub is pretty good.

If there’s one anime that’s dub over sub, it’s black lagoon

Black Lagoon is one of those anime that’s just very wrong in subs. That’s why dubs would be the best for this one.

• The anime is set outside of Japan.

• Besides the MC, there aren’t any (major) Japanese characters and therefore there’s no reason anyone should really be speaking Japanese.

• Speaking of which, since Black Lagoon is pretty much a gathering of criminals from all around the world, it makes sense for them to use English to communicate as it is a bridge language used in the real world which Japanese isn’t. Unless this anime is set in an alternate timeline where the axis won WWII.

• The rest of the main cast are Americans. Not to mention there are many more Americans we get to see. Such as CIA agents and US special forces.

• This is probably the most Hollywood anime out there. You could show the dubbed version to someone who’s not well versed in shows and tell them it’s an American cartoon and they might believe you.

• The dub voices do a way better job at delivering the proper vibes. Such as the creative way they add vulgar language and additional jokes which make the dub way more lively. There’s also one part where the dub wipes the floor with the sub. A common excuse I hear is that dubs are weak when it comes to delivering emotions, but the tables are turned when it comes to Black Lagoon.

• There are language barriers that are all but ruined in the sub by the unbearable Engrish.

There are weird moments where Revy randomly switches to Engrish for a brief moment just to go back to Japanese like nothing happened.

There’s also this scene where Rock translates for Balalaika and the Japanese mafia which makes absolutely no sense in the sub. Balalaika speaks Japanese normally throughout the sub but then pretends (horribly) to only speak English, or Engrish, in this one scene for Rock to pointlessly translate her to the Japanese mafia. Why bother wasting someone’s time to translate for you when you can already speak the language? Yes, they keep the Japanese mafia’s Japanese lines in the dub which makes it all the better.

There’s also a scene where Fabiola translates something into Spanish, but the dub voice did a way better job. The sub voice’s Spanish was barely understandable.

Speaking of which, the dub also gave some of the characters matching accents which makes more sense than everyone speaking perfect Japanese. Unless this anime is supposed to take place in an alternate timeline where the axis won WWII. Fabiola was given a matching accent, Shenhua was given a Taiwanese/Chinese accent (which also added material for more jokes), some of the Hotel Moscow members were given Russian accents, the German submarine crew were given German accents, etc.

This. I agree with all of these points and couldn't have stated them better myself.

Plus an added note, Revy sounds great in the dub given her personality and backstory. And, Dutch (a black character) has an actual black VA, so he sounds like his race.
