| I don't get why they chose to re-edit the dark backstories of the girls to the beginning of the "movie". In the original OVA, their placement made a bit more sense (jarring as the tone shift was) because they were revealed at the moment when Midi unlocks the team's memories. In this version, that re-edit sets up a completely wrong tone from the start and is an ultimately pointless change, since they end up repeating the last few seconds of each girl's backstory anyway when the appropriate time to show them actually comes. Anyway, the extra 7-ish minutes of new content at the end were OK, I guess. There were no subs and i don't speak moon runes, so I have no idea what any of the characters said in these last scenes; but I like that they actually showed the girls surviving that last hypercannon blast and that they took out that one bad guy who had evacuated and snuck up on them. Even with the new extended finale, the ending still felt very abrupt, though. |
