I Am a Hero Chapter 265 / Epilogue Discussion Thread

Author drew special 85- page long epilogue for this story. Hope someone translates it, because I am not sure Dark Horse cares to sell/publish only one chapter, if it was VIZ/Shonen Jump, it would be much easier.

Anyway what do you expect from it? I want to get a bit more clarity, ending was a bit anticlimactic.

There is an epilogue??
Omg, where can I find it???
I really liked the manga up until the last chapters, I think I would like Hideo to have had closure. (Or at least what I consider closure)

No idea lmao I've read on ANN that new edition of manga is gonna include special epilogue which is like 70-80 pages long.

Really didn’t answer a single question I had, it’s pretty much just the same vague ending except Hideo has a kid now. I’m wondering if Hanazawa might create a full sequel.

Well it's already better than ending we had before... and yes, for some reason it feels like mangaka is setting up a sequel, which is not impossible (Starving Anonymous came back with Part 2 not long ago too). Even if he doesn't, I am satisfied with that.

I wonder if that "thing" actually gave birth to people, not monsters, so Hideo is a mass-murderer now lmao

I’m thinking it was re-creating and birthing earth creatures because one of the creatures Hideo shot looked like a deer fetus to me. I do feel like this epilogue is teasing some kind of sequel in Hokkaido, but I don’t know how I’d feel if it’s just Hideo killing straight up aliens instead of the zombies.

It's recent, December if I remember correctly. There was some sort of Manga Box release, this one comes as a bonus.

Sigh... Just as it was getting interesting it ends. No real explanation. Maybe the kids is actually mean to be his and Hiromi's child, who knows? Perhaps hope for some more but doubt it really. At least a bit better ending?

I thought it was a great ending. The way I interpreted it was in the end, we found out the hiveminds final goal: to decrease the human population. Now there's not as many people and the globe can cool off for a bit. The virus was the world's response to global climate change! Anyone else have a different interpretation?

I wonder what the purpose of the epilogue was so long after? I'm not sure what a sequel would even be about.

But at least Hideo looks far more stable now (mentally too)

Just bonus for people who have bought manga box set. Also a loophole for a potential sequel if author decides to draw one.

I like the ending. I think it's hybris that humans would understand everything when in contact with aliens (Golem XIV, Lem's imageless manga comes to mind). From that point of view I think the ending is well resolved.

It was an epilogue, they couldn't change things and add really anything without requiring a new arc.
If the story was about climate change then sure, that makes sense. The author did really good at not leaving any loose ends as in we know exactly what happens to everyone. The only thing I'll say is hiromi had a completely out of character thing at the end where she went nuts. I would've liked to see the conclusion of the evil-left-brain split infection from her.
