| His devil fruit powers make him a really strong character, if he trains and somehow awakens his devil fruit, he will be in a high tier strength wise, in the warlord+ range or maybe even higher. SPOILERS further down vvvv Luffy lucked out and beat him due to type advantage otherwise Enel could solo all strawhats at that time without much effort. I do want Enel back in one piece personally |
| He was a pretty boring villain, but one of the strongest antagonists in the series. If Luffy hadn't had the perfect counter to Enel's DF, Luffy would've died and so would everyone else on Skypiea in that arc. Assuming Enel ever returns he won't be as big of a threat due to power creep, but it's not like the plot needs him anyways. |

| 100% he's coming back. Oda does not just leave a villian high and dry and forget about him, its not his style. Also if we factor in the cover story to this, there could potentually be something quite secret that he uncovered well traveling the moon and Oda will for sure touch base on that again. Even though people don't see it, the Moon has played such an immportant thematic role in one piece as of late. Anything from the reveal of the Lunarians, to the ancient city birka (enel birthcity) which still has not been explored yet and supposedly shares its name with the location on the moon and to the minks transformation state and Toki's prophecy. So anyways, yeah Enel will return I just don't know the kind of role or how high the stakes will be in the story concerning him. As most people have pointed out though, most likely during the final war. |
