It may seem silly from me, but I still hope in my heart for a season 2.

Sadly it's not.The manga was never completed due to sudden death of Author and the chapters which are published are not enough to be adapted into a new season

It makes me sad. At least he could create this masterpiece

Hate to say this, but it'll never get a continuation because of the death of the original author. It's unfortunate, but all we can do is to accept it

It also was not as popular in Japan as it was in the west so it was cancelled anyway

I think it's really sad that it wasn't as successful in Japan. Is there a reason for that?

I'd actually suggest its more like a case of 95% unlikely but not impossible. For example zero no tzukima and strike witches were both completed after the unfortunate deaths of their auther and other shows like full metal panic or the devil is a part timer got sequels years after the original anime realise.

But ya it's pretty unlikely.

No the author died and his brother said he has no interest in the series or manga.

This may be ignorant of me, and im sorry if I offend anyone with my comment. Is it considered rude in japan (…or anywhere really) if, say a really big fan wanted to attempt to continue an anime/manga after the authors’ death? I mean obviously trying to do anything but make it better would be an insult, and is just a flat “no”… im asking if I wanted to make a continuation of HOTD is that like not allowed…?

Im just trying to figure out why someone hasn’t done that with ANY anime/source material in the past…

I think it's mostly a question of legal authorization, and unfortunately that's probably why nobody makes a sequel (or other) of the anime.

But I think that if someone would make a sequel, it will not be seen badly. I could be wrong, but from my point of view making a sequel would not do anything wrong to the original work and would only add a sequel to it.

since the author passed away and not much content of the series is left to adapt, if we do get an anime of some sort, it'll most likely be an ova, not a second season.

I think it's still possible..... somewhere I noticed a news about implying a new author to complete the undone story....tho a lot of fans are questioning about the quality.....but all we fan can do is waiting .....so let's see what happens in forward....🙂

Sadly, it's not possible. The writer died and nobody wants to continue this manga. It's a shame, because I'm really nostalgic towards HOTD.
