Can you judge a series if you've never watched/read it?

Are you entitled to an opinion of a series you've never watched (and no, I don't mean first impressions). I'm talking can you fully judge a series, or say other series are better if you've never watched or read said series?

Was having an argument/discussion with some girl on Youtube who said Fairy Tail was better than One Piece. The lulz one-upped themselves when I read later that she'd never watched or read One Piece, only looked at images on Google (Lmao).

We know the reputation it has, and exactly what kind of series it is though. I'm talking about series like Code Geass, Monster, and Steins Gate. Can someone call those shit without even watching a single episode?

I dislike when people say a series they've never watched is trash. It's up to them but it definitely bugs me when they aren't even willing to give it a chance
