The series has a weird/annoying cut off points for the end of season

It might be just me, but, I'm so glad that I got into this series when there were multiple seasons as I don't think I would have been happy to wait 7 months for the rest of the arc.I don't think I even realised I was going into a new season the first time I watch this because all the episodes where on the same site. However, I started a rewatch when netflix got the first season and when it suddenly got cut off just after the prelims it was a bit of a shock. I feel like it should have ended just before the prelims, even having the final scene being them stepping into the building would have been fine, or should have ended after them. To me there is nothing more annoying than a story that ends half way. It's the same reason I don't watch 2 parters until the second part is out. I just feel like each season should be a complete arc. The way you go 'okay I'll pause it here' at some point when reading a book. It also helps to end it that way since you don't always know if you'll get another season.
Did anyone else find this, especially if you watched it while it was airing, or is it just me?

Addition: Just finished season 3 and it seems they do it every season. They show you the first round of the comp/event then the season ends which is so annoying, especially when there are some perfectly good stopping points that feel far more natural.
