so it's over, finished the 5th and final season a couple of days ago, and the post greatness emptiness still envelops me.

i really believe that she-ra stands among shows like avatar, samurai jack, etcetra as some of the best animated epics to come out of the west.

the relationships carefully built throughout the seasons, the abuse, the anxiety and most importantly, the big gay.

just such a great show, with incredible character arcs, standout supporting cast, especially the villains, which can be seriously terrifying, just by being somewhat competent, relatable and a bit unstable.

and if you're like me and have finished the show, i'm sure you can appreciate the ships that sailed further than colombus.

my biggest complaint, is just needing more of it, it demands the anime OVA treatment, that just shows the cast having a good(and romantic) time on the beach, or some offshoot adventure.

have not seen any other thread dedicated to this show and the celebration of its glorious, finished run so feel free to point me in the direction of such a thread if it exists, and if not please share your favorite parts, moments, scenes, characters and the like, assuming you desire a discussion regarding the topic.

if you never seen it and it sounds like something you may like, i'd suggest looking beyond it's initial appearance and trying it out, it's pretty damn special.

have a nice time discussing, watching, or just passing by, and have great day along with it!

i'm not sure how you hide spoilers here so i won't answer those question directly, but considering i have no idea who you are referring to when you say adam, it is safe to say that's not the ship that sailed.

Not trying to rain on your parade but I still question why did Noelle have to use the She-Ra IP?
Couldn't she come up with an original story with original characters, what was the point?

Didn't she say she hadn't seen the original?

Imo, the reboot is still good. Though, I guess it's up to you personally if you want to watch it.

How does anyone prefer the toy targetted character designs that are made to make the girls all look the same so that same toy molds can be made over the actual distinctive designs of the new ones? I never got that because when I look at the picture of the old she-ra it seems Sailor Moon tier. They all have the same body types, and eerily similar facial features.

This just seems like bad character designs to me and makes me appreciate the reboot all the more:

At least we have differing body types and not same body syndrome that plagued the OG and there's more difference when it comes to facial features.

I saw you literally have my pony in your favs, so it wont make sense to you.... I also saw your born in 2001.. yeh what I say wont make any sense to you....

that same body thing, that was literally what we loved, actual toys whose body parts could be taken off and put on each other, literally what our play time consisted as kids, in the 90's when well you werent even born then......

MLP had the same problem the old she-ra cartoons had(too similar facial features and same body syndrome). I like the characters, don't get me wrong. However, Twilight isn't in my favorites because of her character design. She was also designed first as a toy too, being a Hasbro cartoon and all.

Yeah, I get it was good for the toys, it just doesn't look that great imo as a character design.
What makes a good toy is just different.

the new she-ra is very good imo, and i dont think its really fair to compare it to the original. They both are in the She-Ra universe, yes, but they are two completely different stories with different ways of storytelling. Besides, as the original she-ra was good for the audience at the time, it def would not be popular today if it kept the same style and character designs. Noelle did a very good job and I applaud her for it!

Also, very good representation of LGBT people, by LGBT people. Always a plus in my book.

The character designs in the 80's series fit motu, while when I personally look at Netflix She-ra it doesn't look at all like something from it and more like teenage girls larping those characters. Same really goes to The New adventures of He-Man and the 2002 remake to me.

Which I guess is fine since this new She-ra isn't supposedly part at all of motu, unlike Netflix upcoming Masters of the universe: revelation miniseries. Then again I also dislike a lot CN Thundercats remake's pseudo anime style and removing the feel of 80's from them completely.

I can see why someone would want some faithfulness in getting some 80's aesthetic. I still like the new redesigns way more for reasons I've already stated, but there would be some value in trying to be at least a bit retro as a call back to the roots. It personally, doesn't bug me that much. However, at the same time, I never cared for the Orginal She-ra and the 80s aesthetic, in general, doesn't interest me. Anyway, I get what you are saying.

I've saw somewhere an interview where Noelle said she would like to make a season just 'showing them being happy' but I think in reality it is unlikely to happen. I liked the development through the seasons, specially Catra on the 4 and 5th seasons. Her newest hairstyle was something I firstly thought strange but afterwards felt in love with.

i would love to see such a season! but yea, it doesn't sound like something that would actually happen, though i'd take anything they'd be willing to oblige, like a special or a movie if we're lucky.
now that some more time passed by since i finished it, i came to the the conclusion that i'd be fine with nothing as well though, as i'm just grateful we got a completed series, and they got to tell us the story they wanted to tell, from beginning, to (glorious) ending, even if it does the annoying anime schtick of ending right at the exact moment of the ships leaving the harbor.
i totally agree about catra, probably my favorite character on the show, i also loved her on earlier seasons, as it always felt like the redemption arc is right around the corner, even when she became less and less stable, while trying to prove herself via escalating villainy, that made the eventual happennings all the more satisfying to me.
