Hw do I make MAL automatically record Started/Finished dates?

There a few anime I watched in 2016 that were automatically dated, but it stopped and I don't know why. Does MAL have a feature to do this autoatically or do I have to type in the dates myself?

The dates were recorded without my input. As in, when you display "started/finished dates" on the list, the dates for several animes were already recorded and present

You have to have the anime in question in your PTW first then if you're going to start it, you have to click the plus sign and once it ends, you have to do it with the + sign again. That's the only way, sadly.
