Maison Ikkoku was released in the 80's, and it's common knowledge that dubs that old typically aren't very good. However, after looking at the comments of the dub on kissanime, people don't seem to be as against it as I would expect for a dub of an anime this old.

I've only seen one other non-ghibli anime from the 80's, Igano Kabamaru, which I watched subbed at hated both the voice acting and sound quality of (although somehow that wasn't the reason I dropped it). So even if the dub isn't especially good, that's not a worry of mine (especially for a series this long). However, if the dub is worse than the K-On! dub (which is only bad because the voice acting in the sub is really good and the script is filled with japanese puns) then I'll either watch the sub, or not watch it (most likely the latter).

So, is the dub bad enough to bring about the apocalypse?

I used a lot more brackets in this thread than I should have.
