Did anyone else think that during the Chimera Ant Arc, especially when they invade the palace, there was a bit too much narration? It seemed like the narrator would literally say something every 10 seconds about what was going on.

An odd complaint, pal, hehe.

Perhaps they deemed the Narration as a necessity during the Chimera Arc - due to it being a far more elaborate Arc in comparison to the others.

Hunter x Hunter is arguably the most 'Mature' Shounen-battle show, so most Shounen fans probably wouldn't expect/understand such a Dark story Arc; hence why the Narrator never shuts up.
Shounen is for a younger demographic afterall.

I don't really get the reasoning behind this.

If the narrator is needed because the arc is more elaborate. then how is the narration not intended to make the younger audience understand this arc?

Why is it that you deem yourself confused with my Comment when you already clearly understood perfectly well what I stated?

The Arc is fairly Dark and more in-depth, thus a Narrator explaining the much needed details is a requirement-- considering this is a Shounen show; most frequently watched by early Teenagers.

Youngsters only tend to understand something by being told the meaning behind actions, whereas Adults understand scenarios based upon sight- with no auditory explanation deemed necessary. Surely you understand?

2011 has more instances of stuff like this.

Gon's reason for winning during his tournament fight in his hunter exam was completely explained instead of shown with Netero saying something like "everyone's rooting for him, you just can't hate him, he has very friendly eyes" and he went on like that for a bit, it just felt like the writers were explaining Gon's character and why the audience should root for him.
And back when Paku first used her memory bullets the name of her power showed up on-screen in huge letters for no clear reason. Did they think we wouldn't understand she was using her power? Was this a parody of shows that do this when they use their ultimate attack, showing how HxH has powers that don't fit with this type of thing at all? Why did this happen?
And the assassin that was after Chrollo just before phantom troupe requiem started, he went on about Chrollo and him being the same too much for it to sound natural.

Over explanation/clarification is just a part of 2011.

Sorry my reply wasn't clear enough I guess. So you said that the arc is mature so the narrator is needed to make the arc more accessible to the younger audience. But if the arc is accessible to the younger audience since then (because the narrator was already here), so how is the arc still mature? Because the only mature element that remain is the darkness and some gruesome scenes and I don't really consider this mature. Thus I'm wondering what makes the anime mature.

I'm not shitting on the anime by the way.

Agreed. There were some parts I understood narration being needed to explain certain actions and fight maneuvers (since minutes had passed but multiple episodes had passed to cover such a short span of time), but other situations it felt like it was just giving information for the sake of information (or the writers thinking you're too thick to comprehend). There are multiple situations where characters are hesitant to do something and you can put together why, but the narrator tells you anyways with one to two minutes of exposition. Love this arc and all, but the narrator killed certain moments for me.

Nah man, the narrator was one of the best aspects of the arc.
